Description: The Biscuit Eater is a friendly community cafe and bookstore serving homemade, handmade goodness in Mahone Bay's oldest building. Fresh baked buttermilk biscuits, locally roasted coffee, stacks of cookies and baked treats, delicious soups, sandwiches and daily specials are all made with care daily by new owners Jessika and Chris and our talented chef Laurie Zwicker. Take a seat by the hearth in a cozy chair, have lunch in the library, grab a snack to go, or visit with old and new friends in the common room - here the warmth of community is alive, well, and waiting to welcome you. We are accessible, family friendly, inclusive and open to all our neighbours from our oldest customer (98!) to biscuit babies. Our new winter hours are Monday - Saturday from 9-4, keep your eye on our Facebook page for evening events, markets, and workshops. We are also available to host your special events, weddings, and creative retreats, contact us with your ideas and collaborations!

first, the atmosphere at the Biscuit Eater is par none. I enjoyed the music, seating and the grounds with the fresh gardens and tables al fresco were most inviting...however, the food and coffee was the highlight of the day!!! I enjoyed my meal tremendously and the coffee was spectacular. I enjoyed the self service coffee bar and intend to visit it often! the owners were wonderful! it was obvious that they loved people and were determined to see that I as well as the others around me enjoyed our meal and experience. the environment at the Biscuit Eater is a revelry of creativity with the incredible book selection and the music playing in the background. all in all, my friends and I had a wonderful meal and great time. we will definitely be back again and again! cheers!!!

On a hot spring day during a mini vacation along the Western and South Shores of Nova Scotia, we wanted a healthy and organic lunch and chose the Biscuit Eater based on a friend's recommendation. Not only was the food amazing, but we were allowed to have our dog Will join us on the patio, and she was given a fresh bowl of water and an organic cookie to munch on. Whenever we are in Mahone Bay from now on, the Biscuit Eater will be the place where we'll eat.

We stopped by for lunch while driving along the South Shore on our way to Lunenburg. Nice atmosphere and extremely friendly staff. The African peanut soup was delicious and we received complimentary macaroons (the best I've tasted) as we were on our honeymoon. Overall, a lovely place. We would stop by again next time we visit the region.

I have been a regular customer for over 4 years and can't say enough about this gem of a place. The food is excellent, with quality ingredients. Coffee and latte's also top notch. The desserts are beyond delicious and the service is friendly. A wonderful, quaint place with a relaxing atmosphere.
And of course, the best biscuits ever!

We had a lovely visit to The Biscuit Eater. The service was excellent - very pleasant staff. The food was delicious. The desserts looked so tasty but none of us had 'room'! The coffee was very good and we were pleased to see they served decaf as not all restaurants do. The cafe has a great assortment of books too. All in all - a very positive experience.
