Croft House Bed & Breakfast

The hosts make you feel like their home is your home. Make sure you have stuffed French toast for breakfast. The bread is made fresh, the maple syrup is made on site from their trees, the fruit is all from their garden and eggs are from their chickens. They also have a dog that wants to love you especially if you give him a treat.

I think the title sums it up. If you're in the Annapolis Royal area and you're looking for a spacious, spotlessly clean room and the most amazing breakfasts ever (nearly all local ingredients, most coming right from their farm!), look no further than Croft House. Chris and Cheryl really made us feel at home and took care of us like family. They are very knowledgable about the area and are great to have a chat with! The focus on sustainability and self-sufficiency is inspiring. We'll definitely be back to visit again. Highly recommended!

This is one of the best B&Bs I've ever stayed at, and, in terms of value for money, the best. The accommodation is great -- the house is lovely, in a tranquil setting, elegantly furnished in an understated way, spotlessly clean, and our bright and airy bedroom, with a good firm mattress -- a must for us because my wife has longtime back issues -- was very comfortable and overlooked the rolling conservation land out back. And the breakfasts! Cheryl is a terrific cook. We salivated every morning in anticipation: homemade muffins, frittata, stuffed french bread (the filling was fresh strawberries and cream cheese), apples pancakes with their own maple syrup and Concord grape syrup, and always with an accompaniment of fresh organic fruit from their garden (cherries, raspberries, blueberries). Cheryl, Chris and their daughter Caitlin are warm and generous hosts. Altogether, a memorable experience.

The owners Cheryl and Chris genuinely love their life, their work, and their dreams. Croft House is the first BnB I've seen that could tout a "green" label, but Chris and Cheryl are so down to earth and genuine that they don't really need to tout anything. The place speaks for itself. Cheryl's great breakfasts are enhanced by the fact that just about everything except the drinks come from somewhere on the property! Outside there are heritage egg-layers, beautiful berry bushes of many sorts, fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, you name it. We enjoyed taking short walks through the meadows on the numerous paths around the property, where you can see their gardens, hens, the not-too-vocal rooster, and even a little pond.

Chris and Cheryl are knowledgeable of the area, interesting to talk to, and they don't rush you through breakfasts or conversations. The property is very clean, airy, well-lit, and is warmly decorated with paintings and pieces that just seem to fit in the nineteenth century home, without it looking like an antique store as some BnBs do. All the furniture is comfortable; the bedrooms are spacious; and the mood is laid back.

What will you hear? Maybe the rooster once or twice, some sweet songbirds, a little celtic music wafting from the kitchen at breakfast time, and Dodger the dog will certainly bark the first time he meets you (from afar, he has his own place so to speak), but other than that, it's just a quiet place on a gravel road just outside of one of the most interesting little towns in NS.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a stay at Croft House. Everything was great - the room, the breakfast, and the blue fuzzy bathrobes. The breakfast was really homemade - no cereal boxes here. The location is very convenient for Annapolis Royal and Cheryl knows local eateries and will steer you right. Take some time to tour the owners' property and see what they're doing. And say hi to the hens.

The Croft House was recommended to us by the tourist information as a b&b with a great price/value ratio. In our three weeks trip we never had a better b&b for such a great price. Cheryl is a such a kind host, the food she cooks ist awesome and the hints very valuable!

My experience staying at Croft House B & B was excellent. Our hosts, Cheryl and Chris, were very hospitable, friendly, and helpful in advising us on the rest of our travels in Nova Scotia. The rooms and bathroom, linens and towels were super clean and the bed was very comfortable (I slept soundly those two nights and delighted in waking up to the crowing of their rooster). Cheryl served two luscious breakfasts with fruits from their organic gardens and fresh eggs from their cage-free chickens. I particularly admire their concern for the environment and their ecological consciousness. I will be very delighted in recommending the Croft House to family and friends.

Room Tip: Both of the rooms are very clean, decorated with lovely nature pictures, quiet, and have views to th...
