Our recent two day stay at The Seafaring Maiden was exceptional. Bill was a gracious host and The Captain was a beautiful and relaxing room, very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. There was no need for lunch in our case. We both would like to return some day and wish our hosts continued success.

Room Tip: The Captain was a beautiful room, very bright with an excellent view of the harbor.

Directly from Roma,Italy,we started our holiday in Nova Scotia. And as our first time here, our impression was really good, referring to people and landscape. When we reached Seafaring Maiden we suddenly felt like home.We found courtesy and warmth, and also our 4 years old child has been treated like a prince, especially during breakfast when he had a special service.Bill has been so nice and kind, and the place really worth a stopover in Annapolis. We stayed at the kingsize bedroom, with bathroom outside, and we enjoyed early morning coffee breakfast waiting for us right outside our door, before going down for breakfast at the main room.
If you ever go down there, please give our regards to Bill :-))))))

Our stay here was just okay. Maybe because the B & B we stayed at the night before was just so wonderful. And maybe because it was just so rainy. Our room had its bathroom outside in the hallway. And it was a teeny tiny bathroom. The room itself was quite large. But, many things about it were worn - paint peeling on windowsill, windowsill not clean inside. When I went to plug in my phone for the night and had to look for an outlet, I noticed the floorboard and area under and at the head of the bed hadn't been dusted in quite awhile. And even though there was free wifi, you had to pretty much stay in one place once you got on and not move. Definitely needs some beefing up.
The owners were nice and Bill was very knowledgeable about the area and the history. He steered us to the best restaurant of the trip (also the most expensive) and a few historical things to see in the area that were of interest to us.
The breakfast in the morning was nice although very sweet heavy.
All in all, okay but the least favorite of the three B & B's we stayed at in Nova Scotia.

Dear sraeemery,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of our beloved ancestral home and registered Heritage Property built by my great great grandfather, Captain Joseph Hall, in 1881. We feel so blessed to have received so many reviews by our wonderful guests that have provided us the ranking of Trip Advisor's #1 in Nova Scotia.

We know that a house of this age requires much care and attention; during the time of your stay we were painstakingly removing the exterior paint outside of your room, thus the dust on your windowsill which naturally accumulates by the end of the day. Please be assured that every room is dusted, swept, and vacuumed after every guest stay; although I missed the spot on the floorboard area under the bed around the headboard.

The room in which you stayed, the Bessie, is quite large and includes a beautiful matching period bedroom suite; king sized sleighbed, dresser, nightstands, and armoire with scenic views of the Annapolis River, Fort Anne, and the historic town of Annapolis Royal. As this room has a private bath (not shared) just steps outside the bedroom door, we do provide luxurious signature bathrobes for our guests. The other two rooms have private ensuite baths offering our guests that option for their consideration when making their reservation.

We recognize the importance of internet access for our guests; we have the most powerful router available. When brought to our attention, intermittent service can be easily remedied by a simple reboot of the system, but we apologize for your inconvenience in this regard.

We are pleased that you appreciated our hospitality, for we truly have a passion for our guests and this profession, and the guidance/advice on activities and where to dine helpful. We believe this lovely area of Nova Scotia offers the traveler a broad range of experiences and dining options and we try our best to suitably direct our guests; including providing copies of menus for area restaurants in each room.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at A Seafaring Maiden Bed & Breakfast.

With kindest regards,
Ann Marie and Bill Monk, your hosts at A Seafaring Maiden Bed & Breakfast

We loved our stay at A Seafaring Maiden, a beautiful old house with a great history. When we arrived, Bill and Ann Marie were occupied with scraping paint and scrubbing vegetables (respectively), but they soon converged on us with welcoming warmth and good humor. Ann Marie's delicious breakfast was served with style and panache by Bill as we sat at the elegantly appointed table and enjoyed our conservation with three other guests. It was difficult to tear ourselves away from this wonderful B&B when we became engrossed in a discussion of teaching music with Ann Marie and troubleshooting an iPad problem with Bill. This stop was a highlight of our two weeks in Nova Scotia/Cape Breton Island.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at A Seafairing B and B during a brief visit to Nova Scotia (we're from Vancouver) and it was so amazing that we are already planning our return trip! From the first email I sent inquiring about a room to our final departure, the hosts Bill and Ann Marie were fantastic -- gracious, so incredibly helpful and super friendly! We travel a lot and I had researched the BandB and must say I had pretty high expectations. These expectations were not only met but exceeded -- the greeting from the hosts, the house itself, its location and story were all first rate and the room was spacious, meticulously clean and the bed was super comfy. The breakfast was a delight as well -- not only was there early morning coffee in the hallway, but the hosts serve up a gourmet breakfast that is better than any restaurant. Even more impressive, I am celiac and they accommodated a gluten free breakfast wonderfully and deliciously!

In addition to these wonderful details, Bill and Ann Marie truly went above and beyond to make our stay a special one -- great recommendations and information on restaurants, area hikes, neighbourhood events and great conversation! We were having so much fun just getting to know them that we didn't want to leave!

It simply could not have been a better stay -- perfection!

We are a young couple who wanted to get away for a weekend. We found this place online and read the fabulous reviews. We were not disappointed. The bed and breakfast overlooks a picturesque bay with a beautiful sunrise. Ann Marie and Bill, our hosts were charismatic and very helpful in suggesting what to do and where to dine. They even took care of the reservations for us. Besides the helpful suggestions, the morning breakfast was incomparable to any breakfast I have had while staying at a bed and breakfast as well as staying at inns. They accommodate any diet and dietary needs. Great conversations, beautiful views, fantastic history, and top notch hosts at A Seafairing Maiden. We will be back to visit without a doubt.

We have stayed at five other B and B's in Annapolis Royal and we were anxious to try Try Advisor's #1.
Bill and Ann Marie are gracious and welcoming hosts. The breakfast was very good and the conversation around the table with other guests was most interesting.
However, we do have some less positive comments about the Seafaring Maiden. We were surprised to find only one hanger in the wardrobe- that meant only 1 piece of clothing could be hung overnight. A common problem we find with this and other B and B's is that there are not comfortable chairs on which to sit and read or watch tv. The two chairs in our room were low and not comfortable for sitting for any extended period. We were also very disappointed that the satellite package did not include a Sportsnet station so we could watch some of the beginning of the baseball playoffs.
We like to be able to walk to restaurants, to the beautiful Gardens in Annapolis and to the other sights in the town. This B and B is located in Granville Ferry which is quite a distance away from Annapolis Royal so we had to drive in order to do anything in the town.
We think we'll go back to our favourite B and B, The Tulip Tree, as it offers us more of what we are looking for in this type of accommodation.

Room Tip: Only two of the rooms have ensuite bathrooms. The third room has a bathroom across the landing (whi...

Dear PBMaritimer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and please know that we take all of your thoughts to heart. We truly love running our B&B, A Seafaring Maiden, as well, hosting our wonderful guests. We are pleased that you enjoyed the full gourmet breakfast and the interesting conversation at the breakfast table.
Bill and I both feel so blessed to have found my ancestral home in the quiet and quaint village of Granville Ferry, overlooking the Annapolis River, Fort Anne, and the town of Annapolis Royal, which is mere minutes (a 2 mile drive) from our door. We feel a great responsiblity to this lovely Victorian home, thus we have included many period pieces in the decor such as the antique armoire in the room in which you stayed (now replenished with hangers) and the Eastlake chairs (aesthetically pleasing, functional, yet admittedly not always the most comfortable).
The Annapolis Royal area offers a great variety of events, activities, restaurants, shopping, and lodging; we believe this provides travelers a broad range of choices and reasons to come visit this beautful and historic part of Nova Scotia.
Thank you again for your review and we hope to have the opportunity to better serve you in the future.
Sincerely,
Bill and Ann Marie Monk, your hosts at A Seafaring Maiden Bed & Breakfast
