Our family enjoyed the unique hidden gem known as the galley restaurant Chester. The chowder had an awesome flavour .The muscles were cooked to perfection . To top it off the lobster tails with the steak and tail were FRESH and succulent. Our server Margaret was very pleasant. I highly recommend this seaside treasure .

When I visited the Galley the first year it opened, the food was not good. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food and service was very good on a recent visit. Our friendly waitress Sandy gave us good suggestions about the menu and accomodated our special requests. We first had drinks on the outside deck with its stunning view and moved inside for dinner.

We had chowder and pan-fried haddock - both were excellent. At Sandy's suggestion, we added lobster to the fish chowder. This makes it more expensive of course - some might object to a chowder costing more than $20 when a less expensive option is down the street. The chowder was nice for a change with dill. It was a served with hot rolls. A real stand-out are the new dark and stormy donuts.

Room for improvement:

The wine list offers little choice for non-Nova Scotia wines (only Jost and Gasperau offered). Those looking for a dry white wine will be out of luck. We opted for the $20 corkage fee (why does this have to be so high?) and sent one of our group home to bring back a nice bottle of wine.

The dining room is nice (kind of like a mens' club with the dark wood and blue paint). With the seaside setting, a brighter look might be more fun.

Loved the lobster egg Benedict and the seafood chowder, both are rich and flavourful. They taste especially great on the sunny patio overlooking the bay. The severs are all very polite and engaging as well which adds to the experience. Top notch east coast dining!

This is the place for perfectly prepared lobster, a table overlooking the marina and bay, fresh drinks and breezes, impeccable service. Just a very short drive from Route 3 and well worth going out of your way.

Opted for an early dinner and found the restaurant very quiet with lots of empty tables. The dining room overlooks a marina and the harbour is a lovely backdrop for a seaside dinner. Our waitress was knowledgable about all the dishes and with just the correct amount of attentiveness she deserves top marks.I chose the buttermilk encrusted haddock and my partner had the evening special, pork loin in mushroom demo glacé.While my dinner was very good(7/10),the fish was a tad boring. The lemon curry sauce saved the dish.My broccoli and carrot serving was small. My dining companion had a huge serving of pork, thinly sliced and piled high.It had lots of flavour and was very moist. He rated his plate a 9/10. At $18 his entree was an excellent value as well.Desserts were both very good-fried cheesecake and semifredo. Overall with location, wait staff and quality and value of food the Galley on this night was 7.5/10.We will definitely drop by again.
