Wonderful reception, comfy beds, cinnamon rolls, very quiet and convenient. Will go back!

Room Tip: Upper floor would be quieter.

There are several things that a traveler can't help but notice about this Inn. The building is designed to create a homey feel, how many other hotels have a lounge area for their guests that feels like a family room? The rooms are decorated to successfully create a my own house feel for the guests. The staff and owners go out of their way to ensure that you don't feel like a visitor. Continental or full breakfast both are superb!! Almost forgot to mention the windows that open wide enough to provide fresh air, no need to use the air conditioner.

If you are planning a trip to Cape Breton Island, the town of Mabou is a must stop. The Red Shoe pub (owned by the Rankin Family) is well renown in the maritimes for their amazing live Céilidh performances. The sun sets over Mabou river are also stunning.

The Mabou River Inn is located on opposite side of the river where the Red Shoe pub is located and is about a 10 minute walk across a small bridge. As for the rooms we stayed in one of the king size suites which was nice but in our opinion over priced. The lodging cost included a continental breakfast but for anything additional there was an extra cost. The Inn provides an onsite washer and dryer, however the dryer is quite "weak" and required 3 consecutive runs dry 1 load of laundry.

We do recommend the Mabou River Inn, however be ready to fork out a decent quantity of cash to stay here.

This was a wonderful stop on our trip to the Maritimes. Mabou is a great little town and the hotel was fantastic. It is newly decorated - the rooms were big and well decorted. The owner was very helpful and friendly, recommending places where we could go to hear music. The very best thing, though was the breakfast. He does the baking himself and the sontinental breakfast which was included inthe room rate was unbelievable. The bet cinnamon rolls ever, olus homemade biscuits and delicious wholewheat home-baked bread for toast. And all the usual extras like yogurt, juices and cereal.

If you are planning a trip to this area this would be my recommendation for fine accommodation. The room we had was beautifully decorated...furnished with antiques, very comfortable sofa, a king size bed with a crazy amount of pillows!....a large bathroom....and several windows that could be opened to allow you to experience the fresh country air. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast we had was perfect. Overall a very fine establishment I would not hesitate returning to or recommending to others. Close to the town center you are near to the Red Shoe Restaurant well known for its live music and owned by the Rankin family. Mabou is a center for celtic music as well. Also check out the church who's spire is visible as you enter town.

Mabou River Inn is a very well maintained inn. We stayed in room 2, which was spacious and super clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was very large. The management was very friendly. If you know what you are going to do in Mabou before you get there, you will enjoy it. Check out hiking trails before you arrive. We walked south on the trans canadian trail--it was pretty boring so we turned back. We then found out about the West Mabou park, which has a swimming beach and trails--this was a much better choice.
