Our suite had 2 large beds, but no place to sit other than at a small kitchen table in the kitchen area. The suite was one large room with a small bathroom. The view from the room was lovely, looking out toward old Louisbourg Fortress, but carrying the luggage up a long staircase was not that great.

Louisbourg itself is rather neat small town, with marvelous history in the Fortress. Spend a day there - it's worth it.

The Point-of-View serves dinner and breakfast for an additional $55/couple. Dinner of snow crab legs were outstanding. Breakfast gave you a choice of eggs, meat, juice and coffee. It was freshly made, but the limited menu precluded our eating there more than one time.

We unfortunately got a unit on the parking lot side of the building. Yes, the units are brand new, but they don't tell you that the parking lot is also an RV/camping lot!! We had a view into a row of RVs! Also, the rooms have a strange layout. For 2 bedrooms we were very cramped!! The rooms on the waterfront had a spectacular view of the fort, so make sure you ask for that!! Also, no a/c.

We spent two nights in a wonderful room looking across the bay to Fortress Louisbourg. The room was very clean, well outfitted with all the necessities for a family on vacation to do their own cooking. There was a kitchen along one wall and a dining nook near the front window with beautiful views. The first night, cooking for ourselves seemed too much bother so we took advantage of the nice buffet dinner at the central lodge. Tasty main courses featuring seafood but with turf choices as well. The kids had a great time making friends with other guests kids and clambering around the tidepools on the beach below the facility.

We enjoyed our stay here. Great room, excellent location near to the Fortress Visitor Center and a wonderful ocean view including the local lighthouse. Room was really a large hotel room with a kitchen along one wall but very nice. For the price they could have included a roll of paper towels. Would recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Points of View Suites for one night at the end of our tour of the Cabot Trail en route to the Fortress of Louisboug. We were very satisfied with the hotel. We paid $125 for a 'suite' which was actually more like a very large hotel room. There was no 'sitting area'. We had a comfortable double bed with a lovely handstitched bedspread. The furniture was obviously brand new and included a table with two chairs, two end tables a large bureau and a writing desk. It also included a coffee maker, mini-fridge and a tv. The entire room was spotless - including the bathroom. In fact it was so clean we assumed the Inn was virtually brand new. We were also impressed with the flooring which was real hard-wood. The bathroom was very big and included a hair-dryer. The tub was large, the water pressure good and we never ran out of hot water. My only complaint was the complementary shower products given were a bit cheap (ie no conditioner or body lotion, no shower cap and the shampoo did not lather well at all).

We were on the second floor with a less than spectactular view of the parking lot, but we did have at least 6 large windows (including one in the bathroom) that let in lots of light and fresh air. The rooms on the backside of the Inn appear to have their own balconys and for a few extra bucks I bet it would be a lovely place to stay. The main facility is right on the water - not open ocean - more of a harbour. We arrived late at night and left early in the morning so we did not have a chance to check out the beach.

We ate breakfast in the little restaurant - which is not set up like a cafeteria - we sat at a table and a waitress came and took our order. She then delivered it to our table and at the end of the meal presented us with the bill. Not sure where the cafeteria comment comes from in the previous reviewers comments - perhaps they are refering to the buffet - which we missed - but you could see the buffet line they use - but buffets are always set up that way... Regardless, the food was great. Your choice of sausage or bacon served with two eggs and toast for under $4.

The location is also fantastic - virtually at the gate to the fortress. The staff was wonderful - true Cape Breton hospitality, both at the front desk and in the restaurant. It is a tad expensive for the area - but I would recommend it and I would personally stay there again.

My husband and I booked our room at Point of View Suites based on the good feedback on Trip Advisor and their personal website. Our first impression remained the same throughout the trip. As soon as we walked in to check in we saw that the dining hall was set up more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. That is definitely not the impression given on the website. It is also not overlooking the ocean, but is further up on the lot, the closest building to the road.
Our room was given to us and it was on the second floor. As soon as we went inside the building we saw that there were marks and scuffs all over the wall and our room was in the same shape. The glass on top of the night table had a piece missing and was cracked halfway through it, our window sill had a piece of wood missing out of it, the walls and floors were marked with black marks from who knows what, and the bathroom floor was filthy. Also at night when we went to relax in our room and watch a little television, the cords were strewn all over the place and we literally had to move the four post bed so we could see the screen. For a 4 star resort we expected more. It only got worse when we went for a walk on the private beachfront that they so vehemently advertise and we were appalled. It was covered with lobster and clam shells and elastics used to hold the lobsters' claws together. There was also a great deal of garbage including an abnormal amount of used feminine products. Understandably they cannot necessarily control what is put on their private beachfront, however, if it is going to be advertised as such great property, it should be better maintained.
We had nothing but horrible experiences at Point of View and would not recommend it. There was nothing we particularly enjoyed as even the lobster dinner was just decent. However, I can say that the server at dinner was very pleasant but was definitely not enough to save the experience.

We stayed at the Point of View and were very pleased with the stay. The large room had two beds, table & chairs, fridge, microwave - All the comforts of home, and was very roomy. Was very comfortable, very clean and had a great view of the ocean. Would stay here again definately. Was a little pricey even with off season rates, but still a great place to stay. Minutes to the Fort which is another reason we had stayed here. Had a great time.
