This was the best experience which everyone must take part in. A group of 14 took part in this dressup fest. The staff and food were exceptional. The 18th century atmosphere and costumes was enjoyable and fun. many laughs lots of memories every should experience (both young and old)

“A unique setting with great food and a brilliant and very entertaining proprietor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2014

Right from the moment you enter the front door you are made to feel welcome. You are escorted into an evening set in the 18th century. This begins with the selection of costume for the evening. They are very organized and there is costume for everyone. Once you are garbed you make your way to the 18th century themed dining tent. Here you get to enjoy music, story and the comic entertainment of the proprietor; Sabine. We even did a bit of dancing. The wait staff were very attentive. The food is plentiful and well prepared. I had the Halibut which was fresh and perfectly cooked. This is a great experience for young and old alike. I highly recommend it.

“The highlight of our trip out East.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2014

This place was the highlight of our whole trip to Nova Scotia. Dressed up in Acadian garb, we enjoyed the most delicious entertaining meal ever. The music was lively the chowder was incredible and the lobster/halibut delicious!!!! The singer made it lively as well as the visit from Sabine ;) watch your boys blush haha. Do not pass over this place :) perfect ending to a day at the fortress.

“It's more than a meal, it's an experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2014

OMG! What a fabulous alternative to a regular restaurant! Thumbs up to the proprietors, Linda and Tommy!

We arrived about 5:45 and entered a room where we were met by staff who brought out 18th century costumes for us to put on. The room and costumes were immaculate. Wearing the costumes is optional, but everyone in the restaurant was wearing one! What a great ambiance!

Next...into the themed dining area where staff greeted us. Out came the musician with information about how the evening would go. We were seated with people we didn't know at the beginning of the evening but left having made new friends! Before long, the costumed proprietor/tavern owner showed up and made her way table to table telling tales of the 18th century being sure to interact with all the guests. She was fabulous in her role and had everyone engaged and laughing at her antics.

The food was great, excellent value, and lots of it. While eating and chatting with others, the musician played French and English tunes accompanied by guitar, and we kept our eyes on the proprietor. The staff was super friendly and efficient.

Toward the end of the evening, the musician stepped it up on the music and before we knew it, everyone (and it really was all ages) was up on the floor dancing. It was a great way to end the evening.

I highly recommend the Beggar's Banquet. It would be great to go there solo, as a couple, or as a group. My title says it all.....it's more than a meal, it's an experience! Check it out!

“Beaucoup fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

While checking in to our hotel, the innkeeper suggested we participate in this fun evening. After an initial pang of "why should we dress up?" we decided to give it a shot. We were most pleasantly surprised by the preparation (clothes in virtually every size, variety of colours and styles), and dressed for our 18th century dinner.

We both enjoyed the soup and salads but were most impressed with the size & quality of the lobsters we ordered - savoury and delicious. The servers were also in costume and character. The troubadour's tunes were the perfect accompaniment to our great dining experience.

Most sincerely recommended for a fun and delicious evening while visiting Louisbourg.
