“Excellent Place to stay”

We were suppose to stay for two nights but ended up staying for 3. Very clean and spacious. I would recommend this place to anyone. WIFI worked in Unit 2. But i don't think it would work if you were further down past Unit 6

We were six people in a two-bedroom cottage (two of us slept on the sofa-bed) and were fairly comfortable. This was a clean and basic cottage, it fit our needs for one night. The mattresses were a little old (and saggy), but again, clean.

Didn't feel cramped at all.

Basic kitchen supplies. All appliances worked great.

Bathroom / showers were great, and supplied with six towels, which we appreciated.

TV was basic, and older wooden-box type model. We couldn't get any internet signal, although it was advertised.

Clean, centrally located. There are a few hotel- type rooms along with the cottages. We stayed in the hotel rooms which are right on the street with a view of same. It advertises internet service but the woman at the desk advised me that you can pick it up when your are in the office or by standing outside the door when the office is closed. There was no phone in the room.

Disabled: A few stairs and the handicap shower is like any other but with handholds.

We made a last minute booking in which the owner was very accommodating. There was lots of parking and the rooms and bathroom were very, very clean. Beds were the best I've slept in in a while too. Great location, great value, spacious, and would definitely stay at again.

The only complaint we would have is about the wireless internet. We stayed in Unit 6, and it does not reach the kitchen. However, you should get a low working signal in the bedroom.

We stayed at Midtown Houskeeping Cottages for one night for a concert at the Louisburg Playhouse, didn't want to drive back to Sydney late at night. We have travelled a lot but have never witnessed a place this clean and neat. Staff are very friendly too. All furnishing looked brand new and everything sparkled. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

My family and I stayed at the Midtown Housekeeping Cottages, Louisbourg NS in July of 2009. We wanted to visit the Fortress of Louisbourg and spend a few days away from home for a change of scene. There is ample parking space and the rooms are non-smoking, a law enforced by the municipality, however, the lady who registered me did say smoking was permitted outside and even offered me an ashtray to use on the step. They have a paved parking lot with plenty of room and the room was set up like a drive up motel room. Very convenient for unloaded your bags. Our room consisted of two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with a twin for our son. Both rooms had ample space and storage, big closet in the master as well as dressers. The main part of the room was a living/dinning area with kitchen, with an electric range/oven and a full size fridge as well as a big microwave. All other appliances (coffee perk, toaster, kettle) were in the cupboards and could be used as well as full dishes and cutlery, all very clean. The dining room table sat four quite comfortably and there were a big comfy couch and armchair along with cable t.v. and telephone in the living room. The bathroom was three piece with a nice big tub/shower combo. All of the rooms were spacious. Having stayed in many hotel rooms over the last thirty years (I used to play in a touring band) I can honestly say that this was, without a doubt, the cleanest room I've ever rented in my life - hands down bar none! I would have been confident to have surgery performed in this room without fear of infection, even in the bathroom! Great value at a great price. One thing I would recommend would be buying groceries before visiting if you plan to keep house (hence the housekeeping cabins). We didn't find a larger grocery store in town and the items we did buy were more expensive than at a supermarket. However, there are many restaurants, gift shops and museums within walking distance. Also, if you are traveling with younger children, there is a playground a short walk across the road. There is also a take out with a go cart track and mini-golf. One thing I would suggest, as specially for the history buff, would be a trip to Fortress Louisbourg, a reconstruction of an eighteenth century French fort. Also the S and L railway museum and the Louisbourg Marine Museum. We didn't make it to the last one but we will be back for it sometime. Your best bet, google the name Louisbourg and go from there. Though we didn't take in any nightlife, there was a festival happening somewhere within town. We could hear live outdoor music on our first evening. Sounded great and wasn't loud enough to be annoying. That is the other thing, though in the middle of "downtown", the noise level was at a minimum at all times. Louisbourg is a tourist area and home to at least one fishplant. I thought there would be a lot more traffic than there was, nice surprise. A lovely town all around, friendly people and a nice rest. Great hospitality,Cape Breton does it again!
