We were warmly greeted and our room was ready, though we arrived a little early. We had a small room with a queen bed and ensuite bath. The rooms were individually decorated and pleasant. The bathroom was clean and water pressure was good. Since there is essentially only one street in the city of Louisbourg, we did get some street noise, especially noticeable for the one or two motorcycles present. Parking is at a premium and we parked "around back"...which was not a real inconvenience. Breakfast was pleasant and plentiful. Overall, a good stay and we would recommend Stacey House to those who enjoy B and B lodging.

Room Tip: A room that does not face the street (I am not sure which ones those are) might be more insulated fr...

Clean room and bathroom, very comfortable bed, full breakfast. and centrally located. We stayed for two nights with our kids with a shared bathroom. With kids, I did feel that I had to manage them more than if we were at a hotel, but overall, they did quite well. We never felt out of place, as I was concerned about, being a B&B vs a hotel. Overall, a good value.

Great place to stay when you are visiting the fortress. Wonderful breakfast. Nice room. It was good value. A comfortable night's rest at a very reasonable price.

The downstairs area is beautifully done. Everyone was very friendly.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a private bath if you can.

The Stacey House has been in the family since its construction in 1901. One of the proprietor's grew up in it, raised by his aunt and uncle in the snowy town of Louisbourg! He went to school across the street back when the snow drifts were so high, they could stand atop them and touch the power lines! Times have changed huh. The winters are a lot milder, but I'm guessing Stacey House does most of their business in summertime, when the coldest thing in Louisbourg is the morning fog, which promptly burns off by ten on most days. We learned this from the proprietors, who really do know their town. And yes, the breakfast menus are planned out but made to order in a way as well. Plus, you get to choose breakfast time to fit your schedule best, and they are TASTY and extremely filling. Geraldine is quite a good breakfast chef!

The rooms are not roomy, but they are sufficient for sleeping as the beds are comfy and the bedding is mmmmmm... cozy. There is a little bit of street noise, but by bedtime it's pretty nonexistent. The living room and dining rooms below give you a little space to spread out. There is a fireplace on the porch out back, which is a nice place to sit in the adirondack chairs on a cool summer night. Had a great time chatting with Darryl out there!

Septembre 2011 we arrived late and very tired at the Stacey House B & B. My husband was exhausted by long driving and I was worried, where to find another nice B & B (because on our trip we just had wonderful B & Bs so far). When Jessica (I think she is the young manager) welcomed me in the lovely entrancehall, I instantly knew, that we found another real good B & B!
From the outside the Stacey house looks very common: but you have to see it from the inside! Everything seems to date to an earlier century, especially the living room.
The Stacey House is a Victorian Style B & B, perfectly managed and located in the centre of Lousibourg at the Main Street, so it is easy to find. Louisbourg is mostly visited because of the famous Fortress (really worth a visit: plan at least 1/2 - 1 day ...). Small shops and restaurants are nearby the B & B, for the trip to the Fortress one needs a car (maybe there´s public transport, but that we don´t know).
Our room was not too big, had old-style, comfortable furniture (sorry, I´m no specialist), was lovely decorated, had everything we needed, incl. internet, and was spotless clean. The breakfast was gorgeous! Thanks to Jessica who prepared delicious eggs Benedict and other homemade dishes (we had to stop her ...)! We had nice conversations - so we really felt more like friends who stopped at her B & B, than paying guests. Jessica provided us with information for our further trip, and we felt sorry, to leave after just one night.
We would really enjoy another stay at her B & B in Louisbourg.
For the Stacey House B & B and her manager all the best and many nice guests!

The house is a heritage house and very tastefully decorated. Our room was small and the bathroom even smaller. The shower was so tight it was impossible to wash your feet. The bed was comfortable but every spring in the easy chair could be felt. Parking is terrible. There is only room for two cars in the driveway. Our room was on the second floor and the steps are tight and small. The downstairs common room is beautiful. Great breakfast! However, the brochure advertises "easy walking distance to the Fort". Don't believe it! It is a lengthy hike if you choose to walk. The price, $80/night including tax was good value.

Although the rooms were fine and the breakfast was great we would like to comment on one thing. After driving all day one of the things that we like to see at a B&B is a friendly face. Upon checking in this unfortunately was not the case. Being in the service industry a smile is very important (whether you feel like it or not). The young lady the next morning that served breakfast was on the other hand was very friendly and took time to meet and exceed our needs - Thank you.
