“glad we stopped”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

We stopped by Coastal after a day's tour of Cape Breton. We both had the lobster dinner. All the sides were delicious but we felt that the lobster was a bit overcooked. There was a party of about 20 which might have had something to do with it. The food coming out to the other table really looked amazing. I might would suggest one of the fantastic looking burgers or sandwiches rather than the lobster. The owner was very personable and we enjoyed the atmosphere.

“The Food Network endorsement leaves you wanting”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

On our trip around the cabot trail we stopped at a few restaurants in the area, after hiking all morning, I was very excited to try the Ring Burger, which was featured on a television show for the Food Network. Unfortunately, I didnt find it anymore special than your average diner burger- but the sauce was tasty. Very laid back atmosphere, but a bit noisy at times. Would probably go back on future trip to try the chowder!

“Good chowder.”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We had 2 very good bowls of chowder, one with mussels, one without; the mussels are an add-on and sit on the edge of the bowl. Unexplainably, we were billed for 2 chowders with mussels. Also, unexplainably, no bowl for the shells. Tacky!

The tortilla with the crab dip would have been better if drained a bit more. Minus 1 star, that compensates for plus 1 star for the chowder.

Service was fast enough, considering the crowd, but not particularly attentive.

“Great place to chow(der) down!”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

We were on an excursion during a stop on a recent cruise and the lunch here was part of it. Wow! The seafood chowder was amazing! Best Biscuits I have ever tasted! Had a great lunch and got to talk with Jason a bit. He was so genuine and appreciative of our patronage.

“Great Crab Dip!”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

The crab dip was the best thing here. This place has great crap dip, good homemade baked beans and enormous burgers. Fish cakes are a little bland. Service was fast and friendly. They mentioned that the place turns into a pub on weekends.
