Glenghorm Beach Resort was our choice for our 2009 anniversary celebration and we were not disappointed!
Our private celebration began with a pleasant greeting at the office followed by a drive to our motel unit. We opened the door to see a large, clean and sun filled room. The furniture was mostly solid birch and in great shape. Our old style bathroom was large and very clean.
After enjoying drinks and terrific scenery, we dined in a newly renovated New England country style dining room. The three course meal was well presented, delicious and professionally served.
After enjoying entertainment in Pub, we retired to a comfortable bed.
Waking up to sunshine, we finished our short visit by having a tasty breakfast with last evening's entertainer and his daughter.
Thank you for your resort helping to make our anniversary celebration memorable!

Hard by the Atlantic ocean on the Cabot trail lies the Glenghorm, a gem of a stay at a most attractive rate.
Upon arrival one is greeted by the most courteous staff of delicious lassies. Offering chalet rooms as well as cottages of many sizes, the Glenghorm is a welcome home to travelers. Amenities include large, spacious rooms and baths, twin, queen, or king size beds with real honest to God pillows.
A walkway immediately outside thre rooms provide a vantage to steep in the silence along with several drams of single maly whiskey and an exceptionally fine Nicaguaran cigar.
The restaurant provides several entrees which will delight the palate, and for the young ones, an ice cream treat. Morning brings an eclectic mix from the small restaurant attached which offers prepared breakfasts for takeout. The food is well prepared and the Belgian waffles are to die for ( you're on holiday--forget the waistline!!).
All-in-all, the Glenghorm is a gem on the trail: from the amenities to the room makeover, to the quiet walk on the grounds past the rental cabins, the sunset over the Atlantic with hefty waves greeting the traveler is well worth the pause in anyone's itinerary.
We commend the Glenghorm to one and all and are definitely including a return visit in 2013 (that is, if they let us back in the country; something about two constables looking for a nutso American in a kilt dancing on a table!).

This is a large resort and I guess your experience may depend on the room you're given. Our room was on the 2nd floor of one of the farthest buildings, thus very quiet, so we didn't have the feeling of beeing in a resort.
The room was outdated and a bit expensive for the level of quality.
Anyway, the stay was pleasant and it fullfiled our expectations.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the more isolated buildings.

This was my second and last time staying at Glenghorm.

First the good things. The location of the resort is lovely. There is a wonderful beach and a play area for kids. Also the staff were friendly and helpful. The bar tender/waiter in the Pub was particularly good. He clearly cared about providing good service to all of his customers. Unfortunately the food was, well, very "meh". I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

I stayed at a small cottage very close to the beach. The cottage is an efficiency with a small kitchen, covered porch, picnic table, and gas grill. While I'm ok with rustic accommodations the more apt description for the unit I stayed in is dilapidated. Many of the windows in the cottage would not open. The kitchen countertops and wall coverings in the bathroom were cracked and faded and in major need of replacement. There were flies everywhere in the unit. The paint on the outside of the cottage was peeling and the grounds around the cottage had trash leftover from the previous occupants.

The grounds in general were in rough shape. Many of the chairs and benches around the property were broken. The fire pit near the beach was filled with beer cans and bottles.

The cabins also seemed to attract groups whose main evening activities were drinking, setting off fireworks, and playing loud music without regard to any of the surrounding guests. Frankly, it all reminded me of a college fraternity party.

In the end, I guess it depends on what you think is fun. I had hoped for a quiet, restful evening by the ocean as part of a bike tour around the Cabot Trail. So the experience was very disappointing. But if you want to party all night in a run down cabin by the ocean, it might be just the right choice.

During our 2 week vacation across the East Coast from Toronto, Ontario this past August we booked this Hotel for one night while we toured the Cabot Trial.
We stayed there the evening of August 22nd 2012 in Rooms 423/424 which is one of the suites on the property.
We booked this suite as we were a party of 6 people and it was more economical than each couple renting their own room, and gave us much more space in a nicer enviroment. Broken down it cost each person approx. $66.66.
The suite has a large living area complete with 2 full pull out sofas, tv, fireplace with a lovely deck looking out across the water, as well as a sink, cuterly, dishes, mircowave, kettle, coffee maker and a mini bar fridge. It also had 2 bedrooms. One was a very large bedroom with a king size bed, full pull ot sofa and a on suite bathroom with access to the living area as well as a tv. The second bedroom had 2 queen size beds, a full pull out sofa, private on suite and a tv.
We availed ourselves of the Bar located on the property in the evening and enjoyed the entertainment provided. We all had our dinner that evening in the bar. The food was pretty good. The next morning 3 of us had breakfast in the dinning room which was really good and reasonable. Kudos to the staff working that morning in the dinning room who went out of their way to make us feel warm. They were so very friendly and helpful!
The only thing we were not happy with was the pool as it was a fair distance from the property and therefore not conveniant to utilize.
We would suggest that you give this place a try!

We stayed at the Glenghorm Beach Resort this past weekend. We booked for a family reunion back in June; three months ago! When we arrived, we were scattered all over the place; some in cottages and some in the very run down, dirty, outdated, and hot motel room. Rooms had insects, cobwebs, and mould in the corner. To add to this, at a whopping $140+ per night... no air conditioning, no fridge and no mircowave. Had this room been $80, I could have lived with it as I believe you get what you pay for... for the most part. Not in this case. I will say that the beach is spectacular... waves are powerful so we had some folks in our party injured... our own fault! There is a communal fire at night, and pub and restaurant on site. When I complained, they completely refunded the enitre room rate which was noble of them. I didn't expect that but did want a price adjustment. The newer units seem lovely. Also, my sister rented the beach cottage... $270 per night!! It was very outdated and runned down. SUMMARY: Great location, new units look lovely but they need to spend some major bucks on rennovating those older units if they're going to continue renting them out. Expecially for the money they are charging! I would only recommend the newer units at this point. Stay clear away from the $140+ motel room! NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Also, they put our party in the basement with a crew of kids in the upper units; many didn't sleep all night! Given they were full when checked in at 3:00pm, I'm not sure why they didn't put the families with children in the basement and the adults on top so that they kids were not jumping on our heads at 5am!

Room Tip: Stay out of the motel room area and the older cottages. Book newer units only!!!

We've been coming here for almost 30 years - almost every year with friends from near and far- primarily for its ideal location along the trail and its fabulous coastline - private beach and sweeping, dramatic ocean view. Accommodations range from somewhat rustic to luxurious depending upon what youre willing to spend. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. We have always left this resort feeling a little more alive - invigorated. . My family loves it here- day and night. Falling asleep to pounding surf, sparkling night skies, a large moon. Hey! No matter where we go, We'll always come back here.
