We had stayed at this "resort" this past Sunday night (and its sister resort on the Monday). We were a bit disappointed by the room (we had stayed in "Muir Lodge" on the hill). We found the balcony was "at your own risk", the room itself was worn, and the tv was small with a limited number of channels. The place needs some work to be considered a resort. We felt the room was over-priced for the value.

Dear Hot TripOttawa:

Thank you for your comments and we have been listening to our guests and we are presently painting and upgrading the rooms for the 2012 season. The balcony has been addressed. And we are gradually phasing in modern flat screen TV's.

Sincerely,

Colleen Dunphy

This resort has very cozy grounds.I stayed in the Inn rooms that are set up the same as your basic motel room but much bigger. What gave this room a really cozy feel is that they have very large glass windows and the ceiling is wooden. The washrooms are very dated with the colors but very clean, with a small window in the bathroom. The grounds for this property are located behind what you see from the road.
The short walk down to the beach is amazing, when you get down there you have a wide open view of the water. This property has many different types of rooms, cabins and suites. My daughter and I loved our stay at the Glenghorm Resort I wiould go back in heart beat.

Spent 3 nights at the Glenghorm. Room was basic, but clean. Pub had great free musical entertainment each evening. Would recommend Cheticamp over Ingonish, as the West side of Cape Breton has better views, hiking and restaurants than the Eastern section. Middlehead trail near the Keltic Lodge has great views.

We were greatly disappointed with the quality of the accomodations at this "resort" -- especially for the price. Our 70s style room was clean but the deck off the back of the room was questionably safe. Small TV, poor room layout.

Lots of buildings around the place that needed some major TLC and maintenance. I think the owners' focus is on selling condos and time-shares now.

Lots of families.

Food at the onsite restaurant was very good.

Room Tip: Try to get a chalet or a room in one of the newer buildings. If you want a resort go to Keltic Lodge.

Dear NTanner:

Thank you for your feedback. The facilities are inspected yearly for safety and we do upgrades to the properties each year. Our deluxe beach house suites are the newest and most modern accommodations.

Sincerely,

Colleen Dunphy

The location is excellent for exploring the Cabot Trail. The rocky beach area was fun to explore with my kids. The restaurant also had a rather good breakfast. The resort does look a little run down. The cabins in particular need some work. We stayed in two rooms in the motel section. The decor was quite dated but clean. The price was also a bit high for a rather basic room. You pay for location...
