We booked a premier ocean front cottage and got the best located cottage! Great views of the ocean, both from the little deck and from living room and bedroom. Seascape is a very good base to explore the Cabot Trail and we liked having a little cottage instead of a room in a b&b. The yummie breakfast is in the nearby restaurant and cooked to order. We had dinner once and we loved it! Everyone was so friendly and how nice to enjoy the very tasteful hors d'oeuvres on our own little deck when we came home after a day exploring Cape Breton NP. We really recommend staying here!!

We made our reservation well in advance and request a cottage close to the water and were not disappointed!
Cottages were spotless and cozy! Great little deck right on the ocean with great views and a little trail down to the water. Kitchen area was a tad small, needs a little more counter space! Could use some toweling and seasoning. The rest of the cabin was wonderful. Breakfast was cooked to order and wonderful, we even extended our stay. The hostess could not have been more helpful and sweet. Very knowledgable about area and trails. Even loaned out hiking and touring books. The high point of our stay were the homemade, chef Hors d'oeuvre waiting for us every afternoon! What a wonderful touch! Can't say enough good things!

We recently spent 6 nights at the Seascape Coastal Retreat and it was a wonderful place to use as a base to explore the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton National Park. Having our own one bedroom cottage with deck overlooking the ocean was perfect. We had great breakfasts, but the highlight was the 5:00 hot seafood appetizer delivered to our cottage each night! Julie and Rod were perfect hosts - Julie had many recommendations for trails that were off the beaten path and not in the hiking books. We ate at the restaurant one of the evenings and as another reviewer wrote here, have the lobster ravioli if it is available! These cottages were great to come home to after a day of hiking - sitting on the deck we saw so many bald eagles flying overhead - and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We had cottage 8 - right on the point and spectacular view!

I stayed at the Seascape two nights in Sept '12. The place was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. I see other reviews giving 5-stars, but I would reserve that rating for very upscale places. I think readers should understand that the Seascape is nice, but it is not an upscale experience.

Service is extremely friendly. The people on the front desk and in the restaurant were super friendly and made me feel welcome.

Rooms are well maintained and a nice size. Beds are comfortable with quality linens. I would recommend upgrading the television and improving the wifi service. All cottages are located close to the ocean - very relaxing. I didn't use my BBQ, but I did open the lid and it had not been cleaned after use by the previous guest.

The inclusive breakfast was very good. I wouldn't strongly recommend the restaurant for dinner though. When I read "gourmet chef" on the website I was under the impression there was a formally trained local chef who specialized in local dishes, but the chef is the owner. My dinners were ok, but definitely not gourmet. My waitresses were very nice but couldn't answer basic questions about the menu dishes (for example, What veggies do you put in the salad? Is the seafood local?).

I would recommend staying at the Seascape. The place is comfortable. Just don't expect a 5-rated experience that people are giving here.

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage away from the highway.

Cottage was clean and comfortable with a wonderful view of the ocean. Service was exceptional, including hor'devers every evening and great breakfasts. Had dinner one night - very nice. Julie and Rod are excellent hosts! A very relaxing and enjoyable place to base our week of hiking in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Room Tip: all 10 cottages look out over the ocean - you can't go wrong

Beautiful cottages, amazing property, fantastic food. Julie and Rod were wonderful. We had a very small, private wedding ceremony and they made sure everything was perfect for us. Julie’s parents even stood in as our witnesses. We can't wait to go back. Thanks so much for making our special day extra memorable!

This was a wonderful place to stay. The cottages were clean and comfortable, and right by the sea, so we woke up to the sound of the waves on the beach each day. The owners and staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was excellent each day. We had a wonderful speciality picnic prepared by Rod, which was, again, excellent. Of all places we've stayed, this was one of very few that we didn't want to leave. We'd love to stay there again.
