“Very scenic / Look out for Moose”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is a very long course, especially when you add the distance between some of the holes (between 12 & 13 is almost 1/4 mile). I would recommend renting a cart if you are even half thinking about it.

There are great vistas from almost every Tee with fairways that have slopes and rolls that will affect almost every shot to the green. The rough is very rough so bring extra balls.

“Pleasant round of golf”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

We had a very pleasant round of golf. Everyone at the Club were extremely friendly & helpful. It wasn't as difficult as we expected but needless to say we still lost quite a few balls!

“Stanley Thompson at his best.”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Two perfect days on one of Canada's best tracks. Cape Breton now has wonderful golf courses. It may be a bit of a drive from one to another but it is so worth the drive. From Cabot Links to Highland Links take the Cabot Trail through Cheticamp. Enjoy!

“A MUST for TRUE golfers”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

This is a true unique golf experience, mixing the best of challenging shots (from tee to green), ocean AND mountain backdrops, and the purest natural layout. At worst you will remember 15/18 holes, at best all 18. I must correct some other reviews; the course is in near perfect shape. By this I mean it is not immaculately maintained, but maintained such that it adds to the natural feel. This is not intended to be a 'man-made' golf course, it is the best of nature mixed with the best of golf shots. If this was anywhere central, it would be $200-$300.
I have not played the best 100 courses in the world, but this guy has: http://top100golf.blogspot.ca/2012/02/highlands-links.html .
If you want a "suit and tie" course (pyramids of balls at the range, million dollar clubhouse, sod fairways, newly paved cart path, 6 tees, etc.) then don't bother with Highlands. If you love golf, regardless of where you are reading this from, make the trek.
