The Park is beautiful with the lots of scenery from the ocean and forests. There is lots of history in these hills. I am glad they set this aside for all to enjoy.

Great scenic drive. More mountainous than expected. Several good viewpoints - a rarity in this part of Canada.

Amongst the other places that we visited within the highland national park, the Mary Ann Falls are worth mentioning..this comes on the way between the Green Cove and the Black Brooke Cove and one has to turn to the left if they're doing the trail in the counterclockwise direction. its a little place close to the distal end of the Mary Ann river..there is a small wooden bridge and atleast two viewing galleries overlooking the falls, which although small, is a beautiful one...!! the color of the river near the fall is a little chocolate probably secondary to the underlying mud and the algae..the place is in the middle of woods and the environment feels great.. we took a lot of pictures and also did a bit of video recording..
there's a washroom availbility there, with a couple of benches to sit and relax and enjoy the atmosphere...
id definitely recommend it to people visiting the national park..

The drive thru the park is wonderful with views of the Atlantic Ocean with much of your drive. The park is located on the northern part of Cape Breton Island.
There are many walking trails, swimming holes and beaches and 2 campgrounds and the spectacular Highland Links Golf Course rated in the top 10 in the world.
The drive is not to be missed..there are many restaurants and places to stay outside the park in both Ingonish and Cheticamp that are located on both ends of the Park area.
Bring your camera :)

If you only do one hike it should be the skyline trail. The views at the end are breath taking. We were told that you often see moose on the trail. Bonus we saw 2. Fantastic
