“Spaghetti”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

The spaghetti was grand. Mixed with nice music from the Eagles, James Taylor etc. at the background. A great start for the Cabot Trail tomorrow.

“Where Buddhist Nuns eat bodes well.”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

We visited this unpretentious little restuarant one night, having just been to the Gampo Abbey, a Tibetan Buddhist Abbey some miles north of here. Two of the other guests were red-robed Buddhist nuns from the Abbey. Since Cheticamp is the only big town near the Abbey, and they live there year round, we knew we'd come to the right place for a fish and veggie dinner. Sure enough, the pan fried haddock was perfectly cooked, and the veggies were al dente, unlike almost every other eatery on the Cabot Trail. Service was provided by a lovely young lady who told us where her secret beach and hiking trail were. What's not to like?

“Local and Delicious”
Reviewed October 23, 2012 via mobile

There's nothing pretentious here, just good food. Dinner on our first night in Cheticamp featured the best local scallops we had in Nova Scotia--and for dessert we snagged the last piece of the fabulous butterscotch pie. Breakfast on our last day was generous and well prepared. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly, and the view is great.

“Without hesitation...”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

You can rest assured that you will get a great meal for a reasonable price, at The Hometown. It is the perfect place to go after a game of golf, at Le Portage, a whale watching adventure, or just passing through the beautiful little village of Cheticamp, on your way round The Cabot Trail. I have been there often and simply said, " I would recommend it to anyone, without hesitation"

“Great breakfast”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We went here for breakfast on our last morning (we ate Tim Horton's the rest and wanted a change). Wish we would have gone here sooner! We got 2 eggs, meat (bacon - nice and thick), bread (homemade), potatoes, and coffee or tea for $6.99. It was a lot of food for a great price!!! A good way to fill up before hitting the hiking trails. Fast, friendly service. Only wish we had time to go back here for dinner because breakfast was so good! Recommend
