It took us about 2 1/2 hours to hike this. The parking is located in the Info Center just North of Cheticamp and the trailhead is at the mouth of the parking lot. About 5-10 minutes into the hike, there is a map that provides you with the trail set-up. Don't let it seduce you into going left due to the "scenic view-points". Please go right! Should you go left, the first 45 minutes are through dead trees and the first "scenic view" is an hour in and it isn't much of one. The last third of the hike is actually pretty along a stream but it is the hardest on your feet (over rocks) but I ran through here because we saw a snake. After this section, you walk through dead trees again. For the most part, there is little pay-off for this hike and not one I would do again.
The cost for this is part of the Cabot trail fee (daily pass).
