We love bakeries and enjoy stopping on our travels and get coffee and some pastry. As there is a Tim Horton's in Cheticamp, we decided to get our coffee there, but check out the bakery items at La Boulangerie Aucoin's. We were not impressed. The service was okay - not rude, but not exactly friendly. We bought two bakery items. I can't remember them, so guess they were not memorable. We later on went to Tim Horton's and got great coffee and some of their delish bakery items.

Bought 3 items, blueberry scone, blueberry turnover, and lemon meringue.
all 3 items were really good.
My husband and i fought for the turnover, it was delish!
Wish we could return!

Fresh croissants on the Cabot Trail, among many other delicious baked goods made on site. The scones are amazing too, light and buttery. A range of wholesome breads. A mandatory stop before entering the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Yum.

Croissants weren't my favorite, but the cinnamon rolls were a big hit. Stop by to stock up before entering the park

This place seems to be suffering from the hype. If all you expect is a local bakery, it is just fine. We were looking forward to real French bread and were disappointed. The bread is not at the same standard as a real artisanal French bakery. For example, the crust of French 'pain' is supposed to be crunchy - here it was soft, and indeed they seemed to have intended it that way. But it beats any supermarket, so if you want bread, why not get it here?
