Our group of three spent a night here half way through our tour of the Cabot Trail. Once we finally tracked down house, a little way off the trail, it was a beautifully done up home deep in the woods, seemingly a million miles from anywhere. There was also a short walking trail in the beautiful grounds. We walked the trail the next morning before leaving, when the sun came out after the rain, accompanied by their dog. Spectacular scenery with the hills in the background and the smell of freshly mowed grass. Beautiful and refreshing.
The one down of our stay was the rather uncommunicative nature of our hosts. In our four day trip around Cape Breton, everyone had been so warm and welcoming. As a previous review noted, the couple who ran the b&b were remote, in sharp contrast. They welcomed us on arrival, all right, but they were not particularly friendly. We could not operate the tv in our room because we couldn't figure out how to work the two remotes. Breakfast was ok, eggs and bacon and toast, but the husband who took charge of the breakfast could not even crack a smile. Our feeling after breakfast and our walk was that we should get out of their way as fast as possible. No doubt they didn't mean to convey that impression, but this is the hospitality business, and their demeanour put a damper on a beautifully appointed place in a spectacular setting.
I won't stay there again.
