“Hands down the best in Baddeck area”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

While not "in" Baddeck, you will not find better service anywhere. The food is fantastic and made to order. Sandwiches, wraps and soup. Fresh baked goods all the time. The best is the Chocolate Cheese Cake Brownie and a cup of coffee.
Breakfast is sandwiches, wraps, and REAL fruit parfaits will really start your day.
If you miss this place you really missed out!

“Good, but distant”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Agree with most other posters. The pastries are good. We were only there for breakfast on 1 day. Killer cinnamon rolls. Located almost 5 miles out of town so is not within walking distance of town. Friendly staff. Not very big. Worth the trip.

“Great Sandwiches”

Great place to pick up lunchtime sandwiches to eat at restaurant (inside or out) or to have for picnic. Great selection and variety. Also great pastry and cookies.

“Deceptive and Delightful”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

Unassuming exterior, charming interior. A true representation of Cape Breton local life and food. The breakfast sandwich, made to order, was perhaps the best and most filling sandwich I have ever had. The selection of foods is impressive and personal care is taken to ensure that your food is served perfectly. Very, very impressed with the friendliness and genuine happiness of the staff and ownership. First impressions in this case, certainly mean a lot. A definite return when in Cape Breton in the future.

“brilliant little gem”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

Best deli for miles around! Beats all the more "fancier" restaurants in Baddeck. The Herring Choker serves delicious soups and sandwiches in a very nice and cosy setting, the portions are BIG and filling and the food is always very enjoyable. A real deli counter with some nice selections of cheeses and cold cuts to choose from. The little back room has all kinds of wonderful spices for sale. Good coffee, too!! A very friendly place with good atmosphere. We will be coming back many times!
