“Friendly innkeepers”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We really enjoyed our stay here primarily for the wonderful innkeepers who helped us decided what to do each day and accomodated us where they could. We had reserved the smallest room, and although my wife warned me it was very small, I wasn't really prepared for how small. We stayed there two nights since they were full, and they were able to move for the last night. The nights in the small room were not bad, but be prepared if you decide to go for the smallest room. That said, the breakfasts were excellent, a hot dish each day to accompany fruit, juice, coffee and a choice of toast or breakfast rolls. The breakfast room is available in the evening with coffee and tea, and you can sit and relax there as well as in the lounge. This helped a lot when we were in the small room. The Inn is outside of Baddeck but plenty close enough as long as you don't expect to walk anywhere.

We so enjoy helping our guests with planning their days, especially when they share their travel experiences with us so that we can pass on the information to other guests. We are fully aware of the limitations of room 1, however we have very limited options for enlarging it. We do have many travelers who find that room well suited to their needs and we never misrepresent the size of the room when people call to book. We’re glad that you enjoyed our breakfasts, we are currently trying out new recipes to expand our offerings.

The setting is lovely, the music and atmosphere calming and friendly. The rooms were just what we expected, large and air-conditioned. Jan helped us find local live music, and both she and Glen were great conversationalists. Overall a very pleasant stay, and we will happily return should we be in the area again. It would be very easy to explore all of Cape Breton from this central location.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 6 & 8, as it was mid-summer and we wanted the option of air conditioning. It...

It is a pleasure for us to be able to share our home and be able to help our guests find local music. There is a lot of musical talent in and around Baddeck, which is one of the reasons why we moved here, so it would not be fair for us to keep it to ourselves !! We’re glad that the air-conditioning made your stay with us more comfortable. We hope to see you back for a visit one day.

We had a great visit to Cape Breton, made especially enjoyable by our stay at Auld Farm Inn. We were immediately made welcome; the breakfast was great; and the personalized "scribblings" on a map of the Cabot Trail of things that might interest us were especially helpful. We certainly hope to come back sometime.

We’re delighted that you enjoyed your experience of Cape Breton. We enjoy ‘scribbling’ on maps for our guests as it allows us to share some of the wonderful places around our beautiful island and it helps you to get the most out of your vacation. We look forward to welcoming you back to Auld Farm Inn.

We enjoyed our three day stay here this past week. Excellent of good advice and the accommodations were just as we hoped for. Jan and Glen made us feel very much at home -- and we were able on our first night to take in a Caeli at the Gaelic College which was special. Breakfast was excellent and (important as my wife was teaching an online college class) the wireless was very fast. This was a perfect base of operations for a day trip to Louisberg and another day trip on the Cabot trail. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your wonderfully kind words. We enjoyed your company and we're sure the other guests did too. Many people have commented on the speed of the wireless network, so we're pleased that your wife could carry on tutoring her college course while she was here. The seafood ceilidh at the Gaelic College was great wasn't it, great food, great music and a great atmosphere. We're looking forward to the next one in July too. Hopefully you will be able to come back during the Celtic Colours Festival one year, then you can take in a lot more music.
Best wishes

We had a wonderful experience at Auld Farm Inn B&B. Jan and Glen were very welcoming hosts, and the Inn has a very warm and cozy atmosphere. We arrived late the night of our stay, which was not a problem at all. Breakfast the following morning was delicious with homemade muffins and blueberry pancakes. Jan and Glen are also very knowledgeable about the area, pointing out various places to see/activities all along the Cabot Trail. They also recommended Mother Webb's as a great place to eat in Antigonish (on the way from Halifax) and they couldn't have been more right - the food was great! We will definitely be back!

Mother Webb's is a favourite stopping place of ours when we are on the road through Antigonish, so we have no hesitation in recommending it to folks. Breakfast is, in our view, an important meal, so we try hard to make it a special one; we're delighted that we were able to do that for you. Our knowledge of the area has been gathered through our own experiences as well as that of our friends and of our guests, who are happy to share the information that they have when they stay with us. We so enjoy passing that knowledge on so that our guests make the most of their visit to the area. Hopefully you will be back again in the not too distant future to come and explore a little bit more of Cape Breton.
Best wishes

Thank you Jan and Glen for awesome hospitality and a wonderful room. The breakfast was fantastic with Jan's homemade bread and baked goods. It was a nice added touch having a local made soap sample in our bathroom. Our room was clean, spacious and very relaxing. Having no specific plans on our vacation, we left after breakfast and an hour later decided to spend a second night at Auld. This is a wonderful b&b, great company,in a great location with excellent hospitality. The hummingbirds were an added touch !

The group of people that we had staying when you were here, certainly blended well, which made our job a delight. We're so glad that you enjoyed the home-baking, as Jan really enjoys trying out new recipes for our guests. The hummingbirds have been hanging around the feeders quite a lot lately, but they still manage to give our visitors quite a challenge by their quick darting movements. We hope you managed to get a good photo of them.

Planned a short stay in Baddeck on the weekend and stayed at the Auld Farm Inn with my girlfriend. Everything was great: friendly service, clean and tidy, very comfortable bed and spacious room, and a great spread for breakfast. Very satisfied and can recommend them to all.
