“Quiet relaxing haven”

We stayed a week in the Housekeeping Cottage "Gardener's Shed" at the Broadwater Inn. Our second time stay here and just a great as the last. We love the atmosphere of Baddeck and the hospitality of the Broadwater Inn. In particular we love the hot tub. A spacious property, comfortable and clean. If we needed anything we just asked. Enormous TV, which thankfully has an off button, and the wi-fi connection to my laptop was better than I get at home, not that I was that bothered as this should be a place to escape to.
We were delighted that since our visit 2 years ago, the place was still as well kept as we remembered and thanks goes to our hosts and of course our fellow travellers who left the place as they found it.

Room Tip: We love the Gardeners Shed as it gives us the independence we need, with the housekeeping facilities...

Can't say enough good things about this B&B!!! John welcomed us with a warm smile and made us feel immediately at home. We got there mid afternoon and he sat us down and filled us in on the history of the building and area....he's quite the historian and even chatted about his kids and himself. A super guy, who sort of reminds me of the energizer bunny...he is up early to prepare breakfast for the guests...serves it,( excellent eggs benedict and we loved the 'hippy' bread ) then sits down and entertains with his witty stories. WiFi was just great, everything was clean and very well organized...nice fluffy towels too! John made sure to give us tips for the Trail which were very helpful. Would definitely stay here again!!!

John, owner of the Broadwater was amazing. His outgoing, friendly personality was a highlight of our first trip to Nova Scotia. He offered us a second floor room that looked out onto the Bras d'or River. Hospitality was first class and the history that John shared with us of the area was very interesting. Breakfast was at 8 a.m. and it was very good - great coffee. I would go back to Nova Scotia just to stay at the Broadwater B & B again!! John is definitely in the right business - the business of making guests feel right at home while being very entertaining. Thanks John!!

We stayed in 7 different b&bs across the East Coast including PEI & Nova Scotia over an 11 day period so we had a fair measure for comparison. Our stay in the 'East' room for 2 days was okay. We chose this room mainly to be close to the water, only to find out the water view is a stretch across the main road facing the front of the house, with a somewhat limited view as there are other houses in front. It was a good sized room with a small bathroom, could have been cleaner and was more rustic than what we expected from the web photos. We felt the bathroom was lacking in quality and basic amenities: flimsy small towels that could hardly cover a slender body (one of which had stains), minimal cheap toiletries, only half of a small roll of bathroom tissue on the first night (thank goodness it didn’t run out). The bed was somewhat comfortable but it squeaked every time you turned. We had poor WIFI connection most of the time which was a turn off for my husband and on a minor note, you had to walk up to the tv (which is across the room from the bed) to adjust the volume. We enjoyed sitting in the muskoka chairs on the front lawn to take in what views we did have and liked its ideal proximity to the Cabot Trail. The property itself is quite pretty and the main house has character. We found John the innkeeper
and owner to be a colourful, personable guy. He joins the guests for breakfast every day, engaging in pleasant conversation and sharing his knowledge & stories of the area, history, etc. The full breakfast was decent, not as generous or as tasty as the others we’d had, but fair. Again, lacking value for the price we paid. Also, there was no refrigerator for guests to use which would have been useful to us. Perhaps we would have been happier with one of the rooms in the main house as they appeared to be more in keeping with our style, but who knew? Overall, took it
in stride and made the best of it. Sorry John…just keeping it real.

Innkeeper John went above and beyond what we expected with his hospitality, knowledge of the area, folklore and wit.
We highly recommend this B&B Inn and want John to know how much we appreciated his special transportation arrangements.
Hope to return again another time. :)

Bumped into this charming Inn by chance, I was the first guest this year as it turned out. John the innkeeper was very keen to get a room ready and accomodate me, and furthermore provided very good information about the surroundings (esp. the Cabot Trail)!
The room was very spacious and clean with a nice view over Baddeck Bay, and even had a small terrace attached. Definitely a recommendation!

This was the second time we stayed at the Broadwater Inn and we couldn't have been happier. Beautiful accommodations, fantastic scenery and great customer service. John the innkeeper is an amazing host and very knowledgable about the history of the area. Looking forward to the next trip to Baddeck, this is our go to place to stay.
