“Looking for different perspectives”

Kidston Island Lighthouse
Ranked #4 of 15 things to do in Baddeck
Attraction details
Reviewed October 17, 2017

I had fun looking to take pictures of the Kidston Island Lighthouse, in different places, to see this lighthouse from different perspectives.

The first time I saw it, was from a window from the Alexander Graham Bell Historic Site. I immediately was attracted to it.

While driving near the Bras d'Or, we saw it again.

The third time was when we walked on the new boardwalk. We knew we would see it clearly. It is painted in white. Its door is painted in red, as well as its top. It has a window. It's quite attractive and worthwhile to see!

Take a picnic go for a swim or walk on the shore to collect items from the beach. Lyons club offers a free shuttle back and forth.

We could not visit the island but took some great pictures. Its a tiny but very cute lighthouse. Pier walk on the Baddeck side is very good.

We did not have time to visit the Kidston Island Lighthouse but we took some great photos of it from a distance. We will certainly stop and visit it on our next trip, which will be in the fall of 2017.

Obviously the light house is lovely. However, using a few angles and props from the area create a real masterpiece. For example, the best overall picture angle we found was to go to the Bell Museum on the hill, lie down uphill from the bright orange, yellow, and red flowers, place your shot with them in the foreground and the distant lighthouse in the main frame. Incredibly beautiful! There is also ship at the pier that sails around the lake with tourists. It has several blazing white sails on what I think was a black ship hull. If you wait for it you can catch the full sailed mast of the ship sailing by the lighthouse with the bright flowers in the foreground. Note the sailing times and plan accordingly and you shouldn't have to wait more than 10-15 minutes for those pics. Definitely worth it in my opinion.
