Our family visited the inverary this past summer. The accomodations were simple, but clean and well kept. The lake is beautiful and the dock area has paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, and paddle bikes for rent ($5/day) to hotel guests. Our children (ages 8,12, and 14) spent hours paddling around the lake near the harbor. They found starfish, oysters, and numerous other treasures. The hotel has suitable food, nothing special, but there are several restaurants within walking distance in the small town of Baddeck. This is a great starting point or base camp if you are planning on exploring the Cabot Trail. The national park entrance is about a 40 minute drive, but at least you are centrally located between the 2 halves of the Cabot Trail. The staff was helpful and pleasant. It is definately a place our family would stay again.
