We stayed here for an event on June 7th and it was amazing. This is a first class resort with first class staff. Our room was a king suite that was absolutely beautiful. We love the Inverary and will be back again in the very near future.

Room Tip: King suites are very spacious and at a wonderful location for activities.

The Inverary is the kind of hotel you see in the movies, if you travel to the White Mountains of New York, or if you say in Tasmania. The hotel is very nice, with clean, accommodations, and a good shower and bathroom. We left too early each day to travel to have breakfast, but the dining room is open in the evening, and the food is lovely. The seafood was fresh, tasty, and well proportioned. Emma was in charge of the dining room, and let us sit outside and have some lovely sauvignon blanc from Oyster Bay in New Zealand. The mussels were good, and the fresh haddock with a lovely salsa was just grand. We stayed in June, so there were lots of rooms, but come July and August, better book early

Stayed here for 5 nights the end of May 2014. Great location for doing things around the Cabot Trail and the 'Northside'. The location in Baddeck is nice in that it is on the water and you have several vantage points to see part of the Bras D'Or Lake. Its not a far walk to the grocery store, restaurants, liquor store or the old government wharf. This is a busy little town in the summer.

The service I received was very good. The bartender - 'Spence' at the Thistledown Pub has a great personality and knows his way around the bar and how to make great drinks and cocktails. The food wait staff where very attentive and polite. The food itself was most excellent, We were satisfied with every meal. They obviously have some one in the kitchen who knows what they're doing.

The building are a little old but sound and this gives to some of the character of this location and resort. Baddeck is a historic town and this hotel fits in nicely. I had plenty of hot water and housekeeping staff were efficient and did a good job.

I would return here with no question.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view if possible. Glasgow house has the pool if you have kids.

I stayed at the Inverary Resort for two days in May for a conference. I'm not sure what the room rates were as everything was direct billed to my employer. I was in the Glasgow house with the swimming pool. The rooms are clean and maintained but dated. The fridge was broken and stuck on the highest temperature so the snacks I bought all froze. The Hot water ran out every day I was there and all my showers started off lukewarm and ended up icy cold. I was on the ground floor of a two story building and the floors were very thin and I heard every footstep and movement of the person above me who wore up at 6am every morning. We had drinks and supper in the pub and the food and service was great! The pub closed early despite the fact that the hotel was pretty well full and some of the conference goers would have liked to socialize a bit longer. However, the best part of the hotel are the grounds and the view which were both spectacular. There are fire pits by the water and next time I'll be sure to go there in the evening. It's worth a stay but stay in the main building where my colleagues told me there is plenty of hot water and no one is above you.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building where they don't run out of hot water and there are no rooms...

We stayed the Sunday and Monday nights of Memorial Day weekend, which is early in the season. We were in the area for Celtic flavor, the Cabot Trail, and to tour Cape Breton. This place is well situated for what we were doing. Our room was in the main building. It's older....clean, but with very worn carpet & furnishings, and little lighting in the rooms (and too few wall plugs to recharge phones and such). Staff was very pleasant, but a few things were off. We were asked to wait 15 minutes at checking for pillowcases...an hour later they took us to the room and still no pillow cases. There was a huge CUPE convention, so our 7pm pub reservation was ignored and we had to wait for a table to vacate. Our room did not qualify for the free breakfast shown on their website and there was no coherent explanation (we were happy to find the Highwheeler in town and enjoy their food at very low prices). There was someone grading the parking lot in heavy machinery at 11 pm, making a huge racket, and when the front desk was first called, they said it was not their property....but then agreed it shouldn't be happening and they would check. All in all, if we were coming back, we would look more closely at lots of other spots in Baddeck.

Room Tip: Main lodge is not up to date.

You will be pleased to hear that we will beginning some significant updates to our rooms, addressing the very items you mention (carpets and more electrical plugs) as well many others. We apologize for the delay on check-in, but are glad you were provided a clean, spacious room, and truely hope your enjoyed your evening in our Thistledown Pub. As you saw, it is a happening spot and is always a great time!

We traveled to Baddeck late May for the Cabot Trail relay race and booked our stay with this Lodge. We found the rooms clean, priced right, and the managers onsite very friendly. The breakfast (included) was more than we expected; fresh fruit, muffins, toast with many choices of condiments, warmed hardboiled eggs, juices, cereals, yogart, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Staying at this lodge was very comfortable and we will definetly return to stay at this establishment.

Interesting that not only the "resort" but the majority of businesses in Baddeck forgot it was the long weekend! Even the PUB/Restaurant was CLOSED one of the TWO DAYS of the long weekend! When asked why so much was closed, the response was - everything opens on the May 24 weekend....HUM....I told them that was this weekend.

However the grounds of the resort are lovely, right on the ocean and the pet friendly room in a great location.

Room Tip: Pet friendly room was in the perfect location, just a tad too much fragrance used.
