“Amazing”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

We stayed at the Heritage House B&B during the Celtic Colours music festival. It was amazing--one of the best B&Bs I have stayed at anywhere. The food was excellent, even by our unreasonably high Californian standards and our host was welcoming and helpful, even to the point of asking us what we'd like for breakfast and when we would like it. The room was perfect, the location was ideal. There are other properties with high ratings in the area, but this one is far better. I only wish we had been able to stay there longer!

Stayed here during Celtic Colours, the big October Cape Breton musical festival. Book early! This place is deservedly the number 1 place to stay in the centrally-located Baddeck, and our hosts mentioned that it fills up by mid-July for this festival. I can only add to the other reviews that the Heritage House is unusually quiet for a bed and breakfast. We stayed at a few other places on Cape Breton, and the trouble with these old converted houses is that every plank tends to creak and you hear every conversation that your companions have in the morning. Not here, though. We slept in late, a courtesy that worked out in part because the innkeepers are extremely flexible about when they will serve you breakfast. You sit down with them the previous evening and choose from a variety of delicious options, and when you want to eat. What a pleasant change from the usual B&B "breakfast will be served from 7:45 to 8:15" routine, especially if you're traveling from far away or staying up late the previous night. Rooms are on the small side but well-appointed with renovated bathrooms and plenty of hot water, and you're probably not going to spending a lot of time in the room, anyway. The bed itself was extremely comfortable, with very high thread count sheets and a variety of kinds of pillows. I'm tempted to recommend this place less highly because I don't want it to fill up the next time I want a reservation, but I have to give credit where credit is due: the Heritage House, by several orders of magnitude, exceeds the other options.

Sorry for the late review. Stayed here for one night in September, lovely hosts, great breakfast and lovely take away!. Couldnt fault the room, got takeaway pizza from Toms which was excellent. Wish we had gone to the celidh, would have liked a bit longer to explore Baddeck and Cape Breton.

We stayed for three nights in early October (2013) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our hosts, Liz and Dick, were gracious, welcoming, with very good advice on places to go, see, and visit. Breakfast each morning was a genuine gourmet experience. The house and our room were spotlessly clean, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. We recommend the Heritage House unabashedly and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. Jim and Helen.

Again just to add to the great reviews. You cannot help but enjoy your stay here. Great food lovely decor, comfy bed, great hosts. Well worth the stay we were there one night and even though it was relatively out of season it made stopping here well worth it.

I enjoyed Liz so much! She's very sweet and a terrific cook. For breakfast we had a wild blueberry bake that was divine. Her homemade scones are the best I've ever and will ever taste. She gave us some treats to take with us and they were much appreciated as most restaurants on the Cabot trail had closed for the season. We stayed in the lovely and comfy Kidston Light room. Beautiful view! Wonderful experience.

Spent one night at the Baddeck Heritage House B&B. Dick and Liz were gracious hosts, wish we could have stayed longer. The room with ensuite was great, clean and inviting. B&B was close to everything in downtown Baddeck. Liz's breakfast was fantastic. Great location to start your trip around the Cabot Trail. You won't be disappointed if you stay here.
