I wish I could tell you all about the Baddeck Heritage House but my husband came down with pneumonia right after we touched down in Halifax. After a few days we realized our business meeting would not end in a lovely leaf tour. Heritage House could not have been nicer about our late cancellation. In fact, I told then not to bother with a refund but wanted to be sure they could rerent our room.. They were so lovely on the phone and insisted that they could not keep our deposit, even though their policy required more notice than we were giving. What lovely and honorable people. P.S. we did receive a cashier's check a week later. Amazing.

Given all the other wonderfull reviews, it really seems almost redundant to write another one, but after staying there one absolutely has to do so!!
Everything was simply perfect. The room was spacious and comfy, the living room was warm and inviting, good parking, the breakfast was superb (and Liz and Dick were kind enough to let us have a VERY late breakfast as we were out 'till the wee hours)......and of course the hosts were an absolute treasure. After five days there we felt like family and it was hard to say goodbye.
We were there during the Celtic Colours music festival and the other folks staying there were mostly also musically inclined, and we spent a lovely afternoon all of us together sitting in the living room having our own wee jam session - with our hosts providing tea and encouragement!
The only possible reason for staying anywhere else in Baddeck would be if they don't have a vacancy available at Heritage House.

We spent just one night here on our trip around Cape Breton Island. The next morning as we were walking to the car to leave, my husband remarked, "Those are the nicest hosts we've met at any bed and breakfasts." I had to agree--Liz and Dick really make you feel welcome, and are so helpful, without being 'pushy'.

We had the Cape Breton room on the main floor. Loved the spa tub!! The room was very comfortable and, although not large, had everything you need.

When we arrived Liz gave us suggestions for places to eat dinner, and offered to call to reserve tickets for that evening's Ceilidh at the local Parish Hall. We were so glad she did because that night the show was nearly sold out.

Since there are just 4 rooms, breakfast is served around a common table. We really enjoy getting a chance to visit with other guests and learn about their travels and where they live.

The 'to go' scones in the morning were much appreciated.

We had the pleasure of staying here in September 2013. A more wonderful couple Liz & ??? could not wish to meet. The accommodation was lovely and the breakfasts of which you had a choice (in advance) every morning were superb. Home made cakes were available to take out with you and it was never any trouble to make tea or coffee in the evening. A delightful experience throughout.

The heart of every B&B are the owners. Be it a smaller placer or an extravagant one it is really the owners (operators) who make or break a stay. Liz and Dick are a perfect example of wonderful hosts. They make you feel welcome, help with your sight seeing plans but have that difficult task of not being too invasive. They get it just right. Lovely breakfasts, nicely appointed rooms, easy parking, good location but really it is the hosts that make the place. I would come back in a flash if I was travelling this way again.

We hadn't been to Baddeck for some years and this time we wanted somewhere small and close to the centre of the village, which the Heritage House is.
As we pulled in to the parking area in front of the property (after an 8 hour drive) the owner (Dick) came out to meet and welcome us. Always a good thing in my opinion.
We stayed two nights in the Cape Breton room and it was perfect for what we wanted, quiet and very clean with a good bathroom and a comfortable bed. And it had it's own entrance rather than having to enter through the main house.
Breakfast was excellent, you decide what 'main' course you'd like from Liz's specials the previous evening, and in addition there were freshly baked scones and a tea / fruit loaf / cake every morning. Any scones or cake not eaten at breakfast were packed up for each guest by Liz for lunch. Which meant that we didn't need to purchase lunch on either day.
Nothing seems to be too much trouble for Liz and Dick, for example one evening we were checking emails on our laptop in the lounge of the house and we were proactively offered tea and cookies.
We were sad to leave such a great place, and it was the cheapest place we stayed at in our entire travels. In our opinion it's very underpriced and we would unhesitatingly recommend this warm and friendly, quality establishment.

We spent one night in the downstairs Cape Breton room. Huge king bed, overize bathroom and a great shower. Only glitch was the need to move the one comfortable chair around to a position where I could watch the football game on the TV. Liz and Dick are gracious hosts. The breakfast "blueberry bake" was wonderful as were the other treats. We will definitely stay here again.
