“Saved the best for the last”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

We finished our two week jaunt thru Nova Scotia with a four nite stay here and we can honestly say we saved the best for the last. First, Dick and Liz were the most warm, attentive and thoughtful hosts who strived to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Be that the superb breakfasts complete with a care package of treats to take on the days wanderings', the pot a tea in the evenings to the luxurious and comfy rooms. The rooms are large, with all the amenities you need down to the large soaker jet tub to soothe the aching muscles after a day of hiking. Free Wifi and lots of storage space for the accumulated clothing of an extended trip. The location is a quiet corner close to the center of Baddeck within easy walking distance to restaurants', shops, the harbour and the community hall for the nightly Cielidh . Thank you Dick and Liz for the wonderful stay.

stay: 5 sept: comment by 2 seniors having 1 week round Nova Scotia:
We must rate this time with Dick and Liz as the best experience we had in the week of B&B lodging.
A warm welcome, a perfect comfortable room, a group afternoon tea, the camaraderie at breakfast, the beautiful food and even a care package for the road ! They have a great place but have perfected the art of being good hosts !
TOWN: we found excellent food at Gisele's and the AGB museum is a gem

We knew we had arrived in somewhere special when we pulled up and Elizabeth who was watering flowers, stopped what she was doing and came over to our truck to welcome us. It only got better after that, the rooms are homely and comfortable, the dining room was perfect, what a great way to start the day or end it sitting in those comfortable chairs. Breakfast is out of this world. The night before, Elizabeth asked each guess staying there that night, what item did they want for breakfast, she presented us with this different choses. Biscuits were great, the jam was fantastic, everything was delicious. We also received a go box when we departed the next day for our onward trip. From Anita, Susan, Fred and Charles who were there on July 27, 2013, thank you for the warm hospitality that you shoed us during our stay. Richard and Elizabeth are gracious host. We will be back

This spot continues to deserve to be highly rated. it is conveniently located to access touring, hiking, boating adventures on the splendid Cabot Trail. There are 3 guest rooms. Ours was spacious, spotless and well appointed, with a huge en suite bathroom, shower but no tub. Parking off street, at the door. Free wifi. The hosts are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The full, cooked breakfasts are wonderful and reflect local cuisine, the wild blueberry bake was so good we had it twice. While in Baddeck enjoy the nightly Cielidh and the local lobster houses. And the highland hiking is superb at this time of year.

Room Tip: If you don't want to step up onto a 4 Poster bed, advise the hosts.

We stayed two nights with Dick and Liz, who were far and away the best hosts we had on our recent trip through Maine, New Brunswick and Cape Breton (five B&Bs and a cottage). They both gave us a warm welcome, and Liz sat us down for the most extensive conference to discuss breakfast we've ever experienced! When we expressed an interest in attending a Ceilidh (a traditional Gaelic musical and social gathering), Dick steered us to a terrific evening in the parish hall at the bottom of their street. In the morning I came downstairs and stood in the kitchen chatting with Liz while she put together a tray of coffee and tea for our pre-breakfast wake-me-up.

Liz rotates three breakfasts, each one of them delicious, especially when fresh wild blueberries are available, as they were in August. (Try the "Dutch Baby"). They are very accommodating to gluten-free and lactose-free diets. Liz takes great pride in her baking, and knowing that they provide too many scones and breads at breakfast, they insist that all travelers take a "care package" with them for their day's travels.

Although the house is 150 years old, it is unprepossessing from the outside. Our room was very cozy (i.e. small) with very high bed accessed via a stool. We were fine with it, but it might be a bit much for someone who is physically challenged.

All in all, a great stay in a town that is beautifully sited, and the perfect jumping-off point for the Cabot Trail.

We stayed here just one night in late August. When we arrived, Liz met us outside and greeted us as we got out of our car. She is a very welcoming, warm, friendly lady. She showed us to our room, which was beautiful. A four poster bed, which I need a step stool to get in, lol. Their house is gorgeous and beautifully decorated. Liz and Dick make you both feel very comfortable and at home. Liz sat down with us and gave us our breakfast choices for the morning and asked us what time we would like. A nice touch, I thought. The only B & B we stayed in that didn't have a designated time for breakfast. The breakfast was delicious with a beautiful table. Would highly recommend this place in your travels, you won't be disappointed.

We have traveled to many of places and stayed in many types of accommodations and by far, this was the most charming B & B we have ever stayed in. As said by many, Liz and Dick are two of the kindest people we have ever met. The room was spotless. The bed so comfy. The amenities top notch. Liz goes out of her way to show you every little detail about your room. They both are so helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was just to die for with Dick's homemade granola and Liz's phenomenal specialties. And if that weren't enough, they made sure to give us a "care package" of goodies to bring with us on our travels.

As we traveled through the rest of the country and stayed at other B & B's and hotels, we kept reminiscing back to our night in Baddeck. We said repeatedly with dismay: Liz and Dick are not walking through that door.

Don't bother staying anywhere else in Baddeck.
