We make several trips over to the Cedar House each year when we are summering at Marble Mountain, and we lay in a supply of their wonderful bread---whole wheat bread, cinnamon bread, oatmeal bread, light and delicate tea biscuits. Their strawberry/rhubarb pie is to die for. We also like their cinnamon rolls and their oat cakes.
Apart from the bakery, it's also a good place for a meal, especially breakfast. Their fish cakes, which they serve for breakfast as well as lunch or dinner, are exceptional. Or try the seafood chowder---very tasty.
The prices are reasonable, the staff attentive. It's one of our favorite places to eat in Cape Breton. If you are planning a trip around the Cabot Trail, take a short detour about fifteen minutes from Baddeck and over Kelly's Mountain across the Seal Island Bridge and there on your right is the Cedar House Bakery. You won't be disappointed.
