Ed and Margaret are excellent hosts. There is home made wine and beer upon your arrival. 95$ incl taxes per night. The breakfast room is charming. Rooms are lovely and typically Nfld style. Internet access. 5 km away from Trinity and close to the Film set for the Random Passage in New Bonnaventure. Be careful of wild coyotes and lynx in the bush as we were warned by the neighbours.

We stayed at The Rolling Hills in Dunfield as an alternative to the more touristy Trinity. It turned out to be an excellent choice. There are four rooms in this restored historical home, all with queen bed and ensuite bath. We stayed in the "pink" room at the back of the house. It was spacious, with its own thermostat and an extra quilt, which came in handy on one cold night. The bathroom has a shower stall, not a tub, but was clean and perfectly functional.

The real highlight is the host, Ed Beckett, who treats his guests like long-lost friends. We spent one evening staying up late in front of the fire, chatting with Ed and the other guests. Ed offered everyone homemade wine and beer, and we truly felt at home.

The breakfasts are delicious. The first morning we had fresh fruit followed by homemade waffles with our choice of toppings - partridgeberries, blueberries, maple syrup and whipped cream. The second morning, the fresh fruit was followed by Ed's famous cheese strata - yum!

Since Ed does not live at the B&B, guests have the run of the house, and can use the computer, laundry and kitchen. It's less than a 10-minute drive to Trinity, and at $85/night including taxes, is a true bargain.

Would also recommend a nearby hike of the Skerwink Trail - only 5 km long, but beautiful scenery.

In Trinity, the best place to eat is the Dock Marina.

My husband and I stayed at the Rolling Hills B&B for two nights in June and had a wonderful experience. Located about 5 minutes drive south of Trinity in the quiet and picturesque community of Dunfield, the Rolling Hills B&B is a beautifully restored property with four good-sized rooms, each with their own modestly-sized ensuite bathrooms (with shower stalls rather than shower/tub combos). We stayed in one of the front rooms, both of which have two windows in the bedroom but none in the bathroom. The bedroom decor is simple, comfortable, and uncluttered; our room held a double bed, wooden bureau, luggage stand, clothes rack and a chaise longe and still had a good amount of space to move around in. I particularly liked the quilt on the bed, the painstakingly refinished original hardwood floors, the chocolates put under our pillows each evening, and the individually-controlled thermostat in the bedroom -- a real perk on two unseasonably cold June nights! I was also happy to discover that our bathroom had good water pressure and a ready supply of hot water. For those who need it, high speed wireless internet has just been installed. Travellers who need to make an early start should note that there are no alarm clocks in the rooms.

B&Bs are also about the breakfasts, and our hosts put on a generous spread, featuring a delicious strata one day and homemade waffles with sausages on the second. My husband also really enjoyed the strong coffee.

But I think the best part of our stay was the warm hospitality offered up by our hosts Ed and Margaret. Ed has a wealth of knowledge about Dunfield (where he grew up) and the surrounding areas and can make some great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. I would not hesitate to stay here again, and think it's a wonderful, relaxed alternative to the more touristy Trinity.

If you are thinking about visiting and staying in Trinity, you might consider staying at the Rolling Hills B&B in Dunfield a pretty "real"
village only a two minute drive from Trinity. Dunfield has a charm all its own with two picture perfect coves but without the crowds and tourist traffic of Trinity. Rolling Hills B&B is a delightful old home which the owner has painstakingly and elegantly restored. The owner is a delightful gentleman born and raised in Dunfield who can answer most of your questions about the area. I would strongly recommend this B&B.
