When Eco-Tours took the two of us out for a zodiac tour, we were given the highlight of our Newfoundland experience! Not only did Skipper Bob show us gorgeous scenery and give us a great boat ride, we even got to experience cod fishing!! Since we've been back to Saskatoon, people listen to our whale and puffin stories, but many people out here have been whale watching when on holiday. NO ONE, though, has caught a cod!!

The whales we saw were an absolute delight, as we're the puffins :) , and we appreciated Bob's knowledge of and care for the whales and their comfort and safety, but what made the trip really special was the way Bob and Gerald talked to us like we were old friends instead of paying customers. When describing the tour to people, I've said it was like kids being taken out on the ocean by their uncles. The teasing, the laughter, the fact that Bob was wearing a wet suit and planning to jump in with the whale (!), the fishing, the bird chasing, chatting with other boats, and careening wildly into a bank of fog... Eco-Tours gave us the most memorable and wonderful adventure! The many whales we saw were icing on the cake. When people hear we were surrounded by 8 whales at once, and one went right under the boat, they think it sounds scary. Far from the truth. We were never scared or concerned, just delighted beyond measure, and we knew Bob and Gerald were always in control of the situation. It never even occurred to us to be scared.

Close runner up to our best NL experience was kayaking the next day with Melanie!!! She took us an amazing distance, letting us set the pace and allowing us to truly experience sea kayaking. Other tours have been more of a gentle paddle, but given that we were the only 2 with her, Malina allowed us to really kayak. Out of the harbour, to the sea stacks and caves, all along the Skerwink Trail, to her special quiet spot and waterfall, past the lighthouse twice, and through the mussel farm - we really appreciated her love for the water, her knowledge of the area, and again the sense that we were out with a friend instead of paying customers.

Skipper Bob, Gerald and Melanie gave us the most wonderful experience and memories that will last a lifetime. We were in NL for three weeks, kayaking and whale watching several times. We saw amazing things, including a massive iceberg, and met all sorts of wonderful people. We did crazy hikes and saw incredible scenery. That said, without a doubt, we both agree that the zodiac tour and kayaking tour were our absolute two favourite experiences. We will be sure to tell people not to miss out on Trinity Eco Tours while in NL, because the tour itself is worth every penny. And you might even see whales!!!

After having gone on a couple whale watching tours in the past and seen no whales, I was starting to think that I had a curse. No more! Hats off to our skipper for having a great sense of where to look for whales and understanding their behaviour. While keeping a respectful distance, he was able to accurately predict where whales were likely to next surface and make sure that we had ample opportunity to observe both humpbacks and minkes. After a foggy, cloudy start of our tour, he went out his way as the weather cleared to make sure that we could take lots of photos. He also spotted puffins and bald eagles for us. A great experience!! The tour takes about 3 hours so one bit of advice about what to "take" with you - an empty bladder!

The skipper was excellent! He pointed out historic sites, showed us the bald eagles and puffins, and got us within meters of over a dozen humpback whales! He was friendly and very enthusiastic...even took pictures for us on our camera! (when our battery died he used his own and offered to email the photos).

It was the best birthday adventure for my partner and I! Thanks so much for the experience!!

We had a fabulous experience with Trinity Eco-Tours. We saw whales right from the kayak!

Paddling out from the harbour we went all around the bay and then out past the lighthouse. Guided by Melanie Mast we learnt much about the local area, the history, and the also the fascinating geography. She was really excellent and we highly recommend these kayak trips with her.

Seeing the hump-back whales was really special. We had hiked the Skerwink Trial the day before and we could paddle along some of the same shoreline that we covered the day before. (That trail is also a "must-do").

Wow, I have never seen whales before and my friends and I decided to go on an impromptu whale watching tour when we were in Trinity over the summer. We happened upon a place just outside of the historical villiage of Trinity called Trinity Eco Tours. Even though our group was pretty small and we were calling in at the last minute, Captian Bob and his partner, Elaine, were more than willing to accomodate our group. We started off at the house learning about what we could possibly see that day, humpbacks, minke and fin whales, as well as other wildlife. Bob was very knowledgeable and easily answered all of our questions. We then got fitted into immersion suits, which were very warm at first, but as the tour went on, we appreciated the warmth of the suits. He also had an extra large suit for one of my friends on the tour, so that was appriecated.

I had never been on a zodiac before, so Bob explained all of the safety features of the boat. We were explained that this type of boat was perhaps one of the safest types and that they are used in search and rescue. Good to know!

Viewing trinity from the water was an extra treat, and Bob made sure that we stopped for photo opportunities. He also had a submersible camera, which he lowered in the water! We were able to view shipwrecks from the boat. Interesting for sure, when he told us about the shipwrecks in the various areas of the bay. The camera was amazing bright and we saw lots of the wreckage from the monitor. I don't know if he does this often, but if you go out with him, make sure that you suggest to bring the submersible camera! We then went by Fort Point, and saw the cannons, where Bob talked abit about the area. This is not a history tour, he said, but sometimes, it is nice to know abit of the area.

We had only got out of the protected area for a few minutes, before we started seeing whales. Humpbacks, he said, and they were in pairs. We saw two pairs, which was exciting, because they were working in syncronization with each other. Two put their tails up, go down, then another two would do the same. Thrilling for sure. I had never seen humpbacks before and they were large! Extra nice that we were able to get up so close. He then took us to another area that there was what he called "capelin rolling". Apparently, this is done yearly for spawning purposes. The amount of capelin (which I thought looked like smelt) was amazing to see. Perhaps millions of them where throwing themselves on the beach! Wow!

I think that was our impromtu tour was amazing, to say the least. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. Both Bob and his partner were very cordial and knowledgeable about the area. They talked non-stop! Enjoyed meeting them both!
