You walk right off the dock into the tour boat. All the staff are very accommodating and throw in a bit of humour into their excursion! There's an on-site bar; not that you need it; wave action will keep you holding on, if you're not sitting! All kinds of things are explained and shown, whether they be climatic, geological, flora, fauna, sea life, coastal towns and their history and their inhabitants. I'm guessing that it depends on the type of tour you go on, you may get "screeched" which involves taking an oath, having a shot of screech and kissing a codfish on the lips!

This is a great tour and certainly worth doing. The scenery is gorgeous. A couple quick notes, first, booking online is easy and should be done in advance. You can both pay and pick up your national park pass at the dock before getting on the boat. You can pick it up in town, but no need to do that. The walk from the parking lot is between 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. It is an easy walk, but is completely exposed so dress accordingly for the conditions. At the dock there is a small shop and food available including sandwiches, soup, drinks, etc. Overall a great experience.

Tour of western brook area of Gros Morne Park. It was done by Bon Tours. Initially you have to walk into the lake & boat, it is flat and well laid out, approx 2.5 km about 45 min easy walk. The Boat is spacious and holds about 100 passengers. There is a chalet at the dock and serves lunches, drinks no alcohol.
The boat tour itself is great. 2hrs of scenery.. great local knowledge by the crew. The guide was interesting and humorous..
By all means take a trek and a boat ride. Lots of fun and educational.

This tour is a must! The walk in is on a new gravel road so no wet feet. There are food services at the boat launch area— hot dogs, homecbaling, hot soup to name a few.
I can’t stress enough to wear warm clothes in many layers. Riding in the top deck gives the best view but it is very very cold. However, it is all worth the effort!

We took the boat tour to West Brook Pond and were totally amazed at the fjords. The scenery cant' be beat. It was a beautiful day in September and lots of people on the boat so all the seats and railing spots were full. If you aren't the pushy type you could spend the whole trip with other peoples heads in front of you and not get any good pictures. However, people eventually let the railing so the ones stuck at the back could see better as well. I cant imagine what it would be like in peak season when they have even more people on the boat. They played local music loudly on the way back too where I would have preferred to just enjoy the scenery.

As per the tourist literature this boat ride is pretty much required attendance. The pond is spectacular and really only accessible by boat for the average Joe. It’s a bit expensive but what is one to do? I certainly don’t have a boat I travel with that I could airlift into the pond so......

That said, I found the people on the phone and on-site to be a bit vague, and clearly road weary from a long summer of tourists. It’s not like I was looking for a red carpet roadmap but I just needed to ask way too many questions to get on the boat, because if you’ve never done it, then “arrive 26 kms north of Rocky Harbour by 11:30a at the latest” is a little less than you need when actually it takes “26 kms north of Rocky Harbour you’ll see a parking lot. Park your car and walk almost 30 mins to the pond to the boat dock. The boat boards at 12:15 and leaves at 12:30p. Also there are two boats and both deliver the same experience...”

This has to be on everyone's bucket list. The crew was very well informed about the formations of the "fjord". The walk in of 3 km.was very easy on the new groomed trail. The boat was virtually new and well maintained. The gorge walls, waterfalls and landslide areas were awe inspiring.

This tour is a MUST!!! It was family friendly and the views were second to none. There is a 3 km walk to the boat that slopes gradually. It is stroller and bike friendly but might be a bit more challenging for a wheelchair. The views, the geology, and history of this world wonder are breathtaking. The tour guides on the boat were incredibly knowledgeable and hilarious! We had so much fun.

I did both the Western Brook Pond and Bonne Bay tours. Both were excellent, with informative and entertaining staff. Even though there wasn't much marine life to be seen on the Bonne Bay tour, the guides still made it interesting and engaging. I would highly recommend either of these tours.

We had a fantastic outing on the Western Brook Pond Tour. The staff was friendly and provided excellent commentary on the amazing sights! You get up close views of the amazing rock formations and environment that makes for a very scenic trip along the pond.
The walk in to the dock from the parking lot is fairly flat and easy (30-45 min walk depending on pace), but you need to make sure you leave sufficient time to get to the dock, get your tickets and get a good viewing spot on the boat!
I highly recommend taking this tour!
