Gros Morne Suites
Reviewed August 2, 2012

We had a great experience over our 3-night visit to Gros Morne Suites in July 2012. The facilities appear to be the newest and most modern in the town of Rocky Harbour. The suite was well equipped with good quality beds and linens. Our neighbours said there were a few moose in the adjacent field one night but we missed it! We would definitely recommend this location to friends and family.

Room Tip: Try to request upper level or suite with west facing balcony for best views.

We appreciate you taking time to give us a great review. We are thrilled that you had a positive experience at our suites; although we're sorry you missed seeing the moose! Hopefully we can arrange a friendly meeting for your next visit :) Take care, Jen

I loved my suite, the owners were very sweet and helpful. They gave us tips on where to eat, buy gas etc. They also had a beautiful store featuring sealskin products, a must see!!! Bought 2 pairs of boots there. The view was great, bedrooms were spotless. Just a little bit of paradise here on earth. If anyone visits the west coast it is really worthwhile to pay a visit to this area.

Room Tip: Book suite with oceanview

My wife has never been to Gros Morne Park so I took her to view this wonderfully scenic area. We decided to stay at Gros Morne Suites & were really glad we did. Situated at the south west corner of the bay, GMS provides a beautiful view of the start of Bonne Bay, the Harbour, the Lobster Head Cove Lighthouse, and the namesake mountain, Gros Morne. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was the only thing left in the complex. Each suite has a small balcony with a small BBQ & a couple of chairs. There is also a full kitchen & bathroom. There are tv's in the family area & each bedroom. The wireless internet worked flawlessly. The weather was fantastic too (see pics). Jen & her husband, Kerry Shears, are very friendly & always had a smile.
They do have alternate accommodations they call a hostel but looked more like a regular hotel room. According to Jen, the view of the harbour is not as nice.
Make it a point to visit the Wildlife Museum which is attached to their shop. It is located about 2kms from the suites.
The most important thing was the cleanliness of the suite. I was impressed with that.
If I return to Rocky Harbour, I would stay at the Suites again.

Room Tip: A room closer to the harbour (on the north facing side of the suites) will provide a view of the mou...

My wife and I rarely write reviews, but were so impressed by the folks at Gros Morne Suites that we feel compelled to add our two cents. We traveled to Gros Morne for our 11th anniversary and booked late. As such, we were only able to get the suite we wanted for two of our four nights. Although not her fault at all, Jen was very apologetic. As well, we were treated to a wonderful bottle of local Sleeveen blueberry amarone (which was delicious) to enjoy on our anniversary. Aside from the amazing service, the suite was very clean, well appointed and had a great view of Bonne Bay and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. As well, you are a two minute walk from the seafood store at the docks, where you can buy fresh fish and seafood to BBQ on your own balcony. You are also just around the corner from Earle's, which is the best place to dine out in Rocky Harbour. We will definitely stay here next time when we bring our children. Thanks to Jen and her staff for their wonderful hospitality.

Gros Morne Suites.
Arrival was met by the two young owners in their shop and Museum. Amazingly cheerful and helpful. "Forgot my sneakers". No worries, try a pair of mine. Wow!
Suite was basic but fine for a night in the mountains of Newfoundland. WiFi, however, was iffy and little amenities (facial tissues) were short. Adding a few dishes, microwave and toaster to the suite would be an inexpensive and easy "upgrade" that might make the room a little more upscale. Second night we stayed in their two BR apartment. Clean, cozy, comfortable. Harbor view. Dishes and amenities were adequate and beds comfortable.

Room Tip: Expect good, clean non-luxury accommodations.

Thanks a lot for reviewing our two properties (Gros Morne Accommodations & Hostel for the first part of your review, and Gros Morne Suites for the second part). It was a pleasure meeting you and we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay. The wireless issues were at the Accommodations and Hostel, and the router is being replaced thanks to your feedback. Increasing the amenities at Gros Morne Accommodations and Hostel is definitely something we will consider, and in the meantime, guests of that property have access to the full kitchen in the hostel. Gros Morne Suites will continue to be fully equipped apartment style accommodations - perfect for both short term and long term stays. We hope to see you again soon! P.S. You can have our sneakers anytime :o)

What a fantastic experience...it's like being at home and depending on where you live---it might be better! Everything was brand new, beautiful floors and so many little touches that made our stay more comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped (plus BBQ!) ---the bathroom was immaculate (with a bent shower rod for extra space!) and the beds were super comfy! A TV in each room (not that you should be watching TV when you're so close to the amazing beauty of the Gros Morne park trails)...I could go on. Book this place. You won't be sorry. At $337 total for two nights (2 bedroom apartment) ---we felt we got our money's worth and more. Thank-you to the owners for such a hassle-free stay! (We stayed in #3- which had gorgeous views of the water and sunrise over the mountain--- but I think the apartments on the other side of the building might have had better views)

We just completed a 3 night stay at Gros Morne suites. It is not a bed and breakfast it is much better. The place is brand new. There are 4 self contained appartments with the wonderful views of the ocean and a great place to watch the sunset.
We stayed in the 2 bed room suite which gives you exactly that, two separate bedrooms each with a double bed and flat screen tv. The beds included duvets and were very comfortable. There is a living room with a couch and tv. The best part is a full kitchen, fridge , stove, oven , microwave, coffemaker plus dishes and utensils. Each suite has a balcony with a view of the ocean and a new gas BBQ. There is laundry on site as well.
You are within walking distance of a small grocery store a couple of resturants and a seafood store at the docks where you can pick up fresh seafood to prepare in your kitchen or bbq. As a family of 3 it was nice to go back to a place where we could spread out after a long day of exploring the park. It also had free wireless
While in rocky harbour we ate at Earle's which is traditional newfie food (as well as "regular food") where everything does not have to be deep fries. The pan fried cod was excellent. We also ate at Java Jacks which is a 5 star resturant and well worth it
