“Great Place, large rooms and close to everything”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

My husband and I stayed in a Junior Suite, we loved it! It was very large, with a full kitchen, balcony with BBQ, coffee maker, etc. The beds were very comfortable with large cozy pillows, blankets, etc. The bathroom was also huge, with plenty of hot water, free amenities (shampoo, conditioner, lotion) and lots of large soft towels. There is also a flat screen TV, a dining room area and really, very spacious.

This was definitely a "5 Star" room, and unexpected to find in a "hostel".

There is no maid service, and guests are asked to clean their own dishes.

Its a quick walk to the main area of Rocky Harbour, and a little removed from the strip of restaurants and pubs so its very quiet.

Check-in (at the Wildlife Museum, there is no reception for the Hostel) was fast and the staff there were amazing. They really went above and beyond in terms of giving us helpful info, calling Parks Canada on our behalf, and going the extra mile to make our visit great. Special thanks to Cory and Luke!

We definitely recommend this place and will come back here on our next visit.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. The bed was so comfortable with a white duvet and lots of pillows. The rooms were exceptionally clean. Full kitchenette and living room space. Nice view of the bay. Didn't sleep well my first night - but that had more to do with the 80 km/h wind gusts!

This is a very clean (and new) "hostel" located not too far from the main drag of Rocky Harbour in the Gros Morne. If you want to be walking this might not be the best bet, but given the whole area can be covered in about 15 minutes it really isn't that far from everything you need. Friendly staff and easy check in.

The kitchen set up is a bit strange with one section being on one side of the room and the other over the other side - bit of a mis-match there! If you are prone to back issues then I wouldn't recommend these rooms - simple pine flat slat beds with a thin mattress are the order of the day.
Also, a bit pricey for a hostel - especially in off season.

As always when I stay in hostels, I met some great people and shared many stories of travel and adventure. This time was no different. The hostel had clean and comfortable beds, good kitchen area and the bathrooms were well kept and tidy. The owners are a younger couple who are both polite, friendly and accommodating. This is a great place to stay for the budget traveler indeed. The only downside is having to get your key from another location in town at the souvenir shop/museum which they also run. Not that bad though if you have a vehicle. Thanks for a great stay and all the best to you both in your business venture together.

The Owner was very helpful and patient in taking our room reservations, giving advice on local road condition as well as assisting us in booking a local tour before the start of our journey. He responded quickly on our arrival and attended to minor problems / questions when we checked in.

The property is a new establishment so everything is new and clean. We got 2 junior suites with 2 double bed + a sofabed in living room area. Room is spacious with all the necessary facilities. Parking is available either downstairs or nearby. Laundry is also available in the complex. The hotel is situated at a convenient location in town with cafes and restaurants in close proximity.

We had a pleasant stay and the room rate was of good value.

This hostel is well located.

The hostel owners/managers are polite, friendly & professional.

The bunk beds are clean. The bathrooms are bright & clean again.

You have to return the key to another location; unusual & inconvenient.

The place is clean, & well appointed. The kitchen sink & pantry area is across the room and separate from the cooking range; unusual & inconvenient again.

The fact that you have to go elsewhere (rather than at the hostel itself) to gain admittance to a dorm bed & presumably, other lodging, is once more unusual & inconvenient.

I found the hostel acceptable, but pricey at $33 + some cents. I should have prefered it to be in the $24 range which would place it in line with prices in Nova Scotia, moreso, as I was there in mid-Sep, which is after the high tourist season. The price brings my overall rating down by one unit of measure.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to review our hostel. We appreciate your feedback. Our office is located in a central location in our small town and has extended hours to accommodate a wide variety of check in times. If guests don't have cars (or are otherwise unable to check in at the office) we are happy to leave their key in the room for their direct arrival to the hostel.
We hope to see you again soon!
Cheers!

I stayed at the hostel for 3 nights from the 19th-23rd of August.
I have absolutely no complaints! The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms/kitchen were clean and the common spaces were very easy to hang out in. I met lots of great travellers there from all over the world and did some fun hikes with them around the Park.
The hostel is also surrounded by locals who are just so sweet! What a pleasure it was to visit Newfoundland!

Room Tip: The locals have a bon fire every night in the back of the hostel. Be sure to hang out with these guy...
