We went to this little place the last time we were in Gros Morne National Park and absolutely loved the seafood chowder. In fact it led us to have seafood chowder in every restaurant we visited in Newfoundland. We returned to Gros Morne this year and had to go there for the chowder once again. We were not disappointed. It was excellent, very tasty and chock full of seafood. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We recently stayed at the Treasure Box loft in Rock Harbour. The accommodations were fabulous, beautiful, clean, and oh so cozy! We ate in the restaurant downstairs for supper & breakfast, both were very well priced and delicious. However, nothing compared to the service. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They are so pleasant it is refreshing! We are very familiar with Rocky Harbour and have stayed and eaten at several places in the area, and enjoyed all. But this place is a true gem!

We ate breakfast here twice. I had the partridge berry pancakes both times - very good and reasonably priced. I would probably prefer to pay a bit more and get 3 pancakes instead of 2; they weren't that big. Coffee was good too. My husband had eggs both times - can't go too wrong there.

This is also a gift shop so lots to look at while you are waiting for your food.

They also sell jams and canned moose. We bought some canned moose and made stew - very good.

The menu is simply, but delicious, whether you are having breakfast, lunch or supper. The chicken strips, grilled cheese, fish cakes, and salad were all satisfying and very reasonably priced. The toutons for breakfast were delicious, and the apple crisp for dinner dessert was divine.

The staff are all very friendly, even when it gets very busy running the restaurant and the gift shop. Speaking of which, the prices are pretty much the best around for most of the souvenirs you might be looking for!

We also stayed at the three bedroom Treasure Box House, which is soon to be taken off the rental list, but it was wonderful. We were right by the ocean, and every bedroom had a window to the water so you could listen to the waves as you fell asleep. Well stocked and very clean! There is apparently a three bedroom loft over the store that is for rent, and if the house is any indication of maintenance and care, I imagine it would be wonderful...so long as you were out most of the day when the store is constantly busy!

The restaurant had really high rating when I checked The Trip Advisor review but --- quite disappointed with my eown xperiece. We walked in there at around 7:30 p.m. for a quick dinner, the lady server kept telling us that they were closing at 8:00 p.m. rather than welcoming us. Anyway I ordered the fishcake dish which a lot of the reviews recommended but unfortunately the fish cakes were burned and the taste was only average. I tried other fishcake dishes in a few other restaurants later during our trip in Newfoundland and they all tasted better. Sorry I won't recommended this restaurant.
