“Terrific!”
Reviewed August 2, 2009

We stayed at Wildflowers for a few nights while visiting Gros Morne and the northern peninsula. The Inn is delightful: very clean, comfortable, and spacious. The decor--wood, handmade quilts, etc.--makes it feel like a real home. We greatly enjoyed our hosts' thoughtful and gracious hospitatlity and would recommend the Inn to anyone seeking a tasteful retreat in Newfoundland.

We had the pleasure of being in Newfoundland four times, each time we made sure we stayed at the Wildflower. They make every effort to bring enjoyable to our trip, including doing our laundary (traveling on a motorcycle limits the clothing one can take). The food and refreshments are great. If you are near Rocy Harbor we would remend staying at the Wildflower.

I booked 2 nights at Wild Flowers, based on previous reviews and the fact that it was rated as 4-star on the Wild Flowers home webpage. It was OK, but I certainly would not rave about it, nor were our expectations (based on previous reviews) met. Now I just noticed that all of the past reviews were from 2007-08, none from this year, so maybe something has changed in the last while. I will list both the positives and the negatives that we found.
Positives:
Good location
Room was large and clean, bed was comfortable enough but not outstanding
There is a small lounge area for the use of guests with a fridge, hot and cold water dispenser for tea and coffee, assortment of tea bags and coffee was provided, but no cookies, and there was a computer for guest use.
Grounds were well maintained, there was sufficient parking and the porch was quite nice with seating and beautiful flower containers.

Negatives:
The bathroom in our room had an "off" odour, somewhat like fumes from the sewer drain.
The linens on the bed were very "tired", not very good quality and certainly not crisp.
The biggest disappointment was with the breakfasts!!! The first morning we were offered cold commercial cereals (passed), so the hot breakfast was brought out. It consisted of a very hard poached egg, two strips of hard, uncuttable bacon, a piece of cold toast from commercial bread and a very small bowl with yogurt and about 5 raspberries. Since there was no other choice we ate what we were given, but there was sure no evidence of the wonderful "home-cooking" that other reviews commented on.
On the second morning we were hoping for improvement, but were totally surprised when we were told that breakfast once again was poached eggs and bacon!!!! Deciding to pass, I asked if i could get some fruit...........the response was maybe they had an orange. Then it was mentionned that there was the yogurt and fruit, so I said sure. What I got was the same tiny bowl of (you guessed it) yogurt with about 5 raspberries.
I just figure that a 4-star rated B&B would provide better quality and choice.
To end, we stayed at 3 other B&Bs during our visit to Newfoundland (both 3-star and 4-star rated) and all provided super breakfasts with more choice and at least some homemade components.

Excellent stay in a beautiful home that is neat and tidy. We had a King sized bed with a private washroom. It was simply the best place to stay! Make sure to call ahead to ensure availability!

The family was warm and welcoming. A HOT, amazing breakfast was served in the morning. When the late night tea craving hit, there was hot chocolate, teas, coffee and cookies in the guest sitting room.

I would highly recommend a stay here as you are welcomed into the home, and do not feel like an outsider.

Thank you again for an amazing stay.

By mistake, I wrote a review of Wild Flowers Counry Inn/B&B in Rocky Harbour under the Candlelight B&B heading.

The place I stayed in and absolutely loved was the Wild Flowers Country Inn. It is extremely clean, very comfortable, very nicely appointed, good sized rooms and the breakfast is plentiful and delicious. I highly recommend this B&B - you won't be disappointed. We also ate at Jackie's and enjoyed their seafood, and had a wonderful meal at Java Jack's. Wild Flowers and the 2 restaurants all have fantastic ocean views.

This is a lovely B&B with an ocean view. Rooms are nicely appointed, extremely clean and the full breakfast was delicious. It is very comfortable and quiet, and there are good restaurants within walking distance (Java Joe's - excellent!) You will not be disappointed here!

Our stay at the Wild Flowers B&B was one of the highlights of our trip to Newfoundland. The owners have taken great care in furnishing this lovely property. Their attention also shows in the breakfast served to their guests, and even in the gardens surrounding the main house and cabin. It goes without saying that everything is spotlessly clean. Good restaurants are within walking distance. Rocky Harbor is surrounded by the splendours of Gros Morne National Park. Excellent whale-watching and fiord cruises are available.
