Our family took a week this summer and traveled the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland, Canada. Our sight seeing was combined with a genuine effort to visit restaurants who serve the freshest fish.
We managed to find a number of very good restaurants, however the Anchor Cafe stood out above the rest. The Anchor Cafe is located directly across the road from the Port aux Choix fish plant, which by the way, does not take away from the experience. The waitresses were very quick, helpful, plesant, as well as understanding of any special requests. We unfortunately didn't get to meet the chef, but their ability and passion was evident in the food we ate. All the seafood was prepared perfectly, not over cooked. Many restaurants will charge a premium for fresh seafood, and overall the prices at the Anchor Cafe were were middle of the road. Not cheap, but not crazy. Great quality food.
Over all, I would highly recommend the Anchor Cafe as one of the must visit restaurants on the Northern Peninsula.
