Certificate of Excellence

Myself and my girlfriend stayed for one night on June 1st and it was a wonderful experience. George and Lynn welcomed us into their home and treated us like family. We had dinner booked that evening and the three course meal was exceptional and the breakfast the next morning was delicious as well...Our room was awesome and the location in the historic part of harbour Grace was just so nice...But the highlight of the stay was the wonderful company of George and Lynn

Not only was the inn spotlessly clean it was filled with hospitality & a joie de vivre ( hope that is spelled correctly) Lynn & Geoge went above & beyond to make us welcome & comfortable & their food was comparable to any fine dining experience we have had. Along with 7 other dinner guests we shared stories & laughter initiated primarily by our hosts. What a terrific introduction to Newfoundland hospitality......& thanks to Lynn I left with some delicious recipes.

Room Tip: All rooms are equally comfortable.....no need to worry which one you get.

We recently stayed one night at the Rothesay Inn. We called around 7:30 pm to enquire about a room for that night, as we were travelling on motorcycles and we never know where we will end up. George answered our call and welcomed us at this late hour with no hesitation. Upon arriving, we were invited into the parlour to visit with George and his chef wife Lynn, and felt very relaxed and comfortable. Our room was tastefully decorated in keeping with the B & B's era (historic heritage house now). Breakfast was good, with homemade jams, honey in dining room overlooking water. George provided a wealth of information about the area and what to see and do. I would DEFINITELY stay here again, thank you for your superb hospitality! PS May I have the bee-less honey recipe!

We were very fortunate to stay the the Rothesay B&B for three nights in May. Travelling for business, we then stayed on in NL for an extended holiday. We started in St. John's and then decided to try a B&B for three nights. What a stroke of luck! We arrived mid-afternoon and were greeted by Lynn and George who welcomed us into their very comfortable home. It is a perfect location from which to take day trips and hikes and George is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to planning a day itinerary and is full of tips and suggestions to make the most of your time in the Avalon peninsula. Lynn is lovely and puts together a delicious breakfast and dinner should you be so inclined. I'd highly suggest dinner as there is nowhere else to go that is anywhere near the quality or ambience..so take advantage! Best B&B~Best Hosts...perfect! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!!

Stayed one night during a recent business trip. The hospitality of the owners, exquisite cuisine from Lynn's kitchen and quaint ambience of the historical home would be reason to return, especially when I could stay longer.

This is a beautiful old house with a rich local history. Ask George to tell you about it. He is very knowledgeable. Lynn, his wife, is a top drawer chef. It was a wonderful surprise to find out, upon arrival, that we could eat a three course dinner at the B&B for a very reasonable set price. The value of this option was outstanding. The dining room is intimate, elegant and warm. The food was fresh and expertly prepared. The beautiful salads (we ate there both nights) and broiled fish were a welcome respite from some of the heavier, fried local fare. Don't get me wrong, I love fish and chips, but after six days of nothing but, my heart and my pants were equally appreciative of a healthier plate. Having said that, you wouldn't want to miss the decadent dessert. Delicious! The rooms are comfortable with private baths. The breakfasts (included) are just as splendid as the evening meal. George and Lynn are kind and interesting. It was lovely to sit and talk with them after supper. Stay here.

During our recent trip (September 2012) to the Avalon and Bona Vista Peninsulas, we stayed 2 days at Rothesay House in Harbour Grace which was a super location from which to visit (and photograph!!!!) Brigus, Cupids and travel north up the Baccalieu Trail. George and Lynn were super hosts and so helpful in recommending what to see and where to hike etc. Lynn is a gourmet cook and her breakfasts and dinners were truly exceptional. Great conversations around the dinner table with fellow guests and our hosts. Well worth staying at Rothesay House! C. and M. Bell, Toronto
