Owner description: The ultimate Bay of Fundy eco-adventure. Drive the paved parkway that hugs the coastal cliffs. Lace up your hiking boots and hop on your mountain bike and explore the trails. These connect to paths and stairways which lead to pristine beaches and tumbling waterfalls, Precambrian rocks, 250m cliffs that tower at the water's edge. If that doesn't take your breath away, just check out the view - the spectacular, stunning Bay of Fundy. The trail has been carved out of the Fundy Escarpment, one of the last remaining coastal wilderness areas between Florida and Labrador. Most of the elements of the Fundy ecosystem exist within this area including the dramatic Fundy tides. At the Interpretive Centre you'll find original artifacts and old photos from a bygone era, when logging, fishing and shipbuilding were an economic mainstay of this region. Guided tours to Hearst Lodge and Great Day Experiences for the family or groups are available. The Interpretive Centre also provides a snack bar, restroom facilities and a small retail outlet. Above the Centre, there is a suspension bridge across the sparkling waters of the Big Salmon River and the beginning of the wilderness Fundy Footpath.

“Several gems here!”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

The Fundy Trail certainly has several highlights to see. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the fabulous ocean vistas and had fun with the suspension bridge, but the highlight of our trip to Fundy was a serendipitous lunch. While we mistakenly thought there were several lunch places within the park all we found were chips at the interpretive center. The staff let us know that there was the Hearst Lodge, but you usually need reservations. After they called and let us know that we could be accomodated at the lodge. We met George, who led us to a parking lot and then we all climbed into his truck. The ride was a bit wild, with drop offs on the sides and significant bumps in the road itself. Then, we were treated to a simple yet amazing lunch. Laura was the chef who created a wonderful soup, sandwiches and dessert. All of the food was homemade and fantastic. I'd go back just for this great experience. More than anything else in Fundy Trail, we will remember this adventure. Thank your George and Laura for MAKING our day!

“Awesome trail”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

WOW all I can say is WOW
This trail is so well done and well kept. We drove it and we walked some of the areas and I wasn't there long enough I could have spent many days going to this beautiful area.
Lots of scenic lookouts and you can go down to the water in one area which is where we ate our lunch. But there are many picnic tables along the way with awesome views. Bring your lunch and enjoy the beauty.

“Great Hikes, Beautiful Vistas”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

The Fundy Trail Parkway is well worth visiting for hiking or biking. Be advised, though, that we visited in July 2014 and there were no bike rentals available. There had been last summer and maybe there will be next summer but if you want to bike, you have to bring your own. There are several hiking trails and some lead down to rocky, deserted beaches. I hiked down to Melvin Beach which was listed as an "easy" hike. Be aware that by easy, they seem to mean wide, gravelly trails. There was a steep grade and the trail was long. I loved it but my parents who are in their seventies and eighties didn't enjoy it due to the steep grade. I only ran into a couple of people on the trails when I was there. It's got beautiful vistas that sweep down to the ocean and amazing hikes which beckoned to me. I'd definitely visit again!

“Best Coastal Drive”
Reviewed July 7, 2014 via mobile

This rivals, if not bests, Mt Desert's Park Loop Road. Doesn't have the traffic and the views are more spectacular, almost primitive. Plenty of walking opportunities between park areas: if with someone else, one could walk and the other drive, and alternate roles.

“Great day trip”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

Wow..... What can I say... It was so much more than I expected. The views were beautiful. The kids loved it. If you want the best views of the Bay of Fundy, this trail is for you.

Plan to have lunch at the Caves Restaurant after the trail. It was a perfect way to end a perfect day. The view on the patio overlooking the sea caves and the bay , eating the best seafood.

Planning another trip soon.
