Owner description: The ultimate Bay of Fundy eco-adventure. Drive the paved parkway that hugs the coastal cliffs. Lace up your hiking boots and hop on your mountain bike and explore the trails. These connect to paths and stairways which lead to pristine beaches and tumbling waterfalls, Precambrian rocks, 250m cliffs that tower at the water's edge. If that doesn't take your breath away, just check out the view - the spectacular, stunning Bay of Fundy. The trail has been carved out of the Fundy Escarpment, one of the last remaining coastal wilderness areas between Florida and Labrador. Most of the elements of the Fundy ecosystem exist within this area including the dramatic Fundy tides. At the Interpretive Centre you'll find original artifacts and old photos from a bygone era, when logging, fishing and shipbuilding were an economic mainstay of this region. Guided tours to Hearst Lodge and Great Day Experiences for the family or groups are available. The Interpretive Centre also provides a snack bar, restroom facilities and a small retail outlet. Above the Centre, there is a suspension bridge across the sparkling waters of the Big Salmon River and the beginning of the wilderness Fundy Footpath.

“NBs most underrated hidden gem!! Some little tips..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

What an incredible hidden gem! I don't expect it will stay that way once the parkway is completed, but the Fundy Trail is NBs most underrated attraction in my opinion. Ticked away near St. Martins, NB this park is a well-executed example of the historically influenced beauty that NB has to offer. There are multiple trails, hidden beaches, waterfalls, swimming holes, a viewpoints. Plan to spend a full day, bring towels, bathing suits, suncreen, walking shoes, and lots of camera space! Perfect for families. The summer concerts are a great example of traditional NB music, and the information centre has a great video explaining the history of the area, and the work it took to create this development. The suspension bridge has been there for as long as I can remember, way before the Parkway even existed! On the other side of the ridge is a decent swimming hole, but if you want the real gems hike the trail that leads off into the forest next to the bridge. Along that trail are multiple clear water deep holes that include some of my most favourite places on Earth. If you follow the trail the whole way you will come to the lodge, where you can grab a drink or snack and relax before the hike back. I visit every summer.

“I am embarassed I do not go more often!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

The Fundy Trail is a 35 minute drive from home, and I am embarrassed to admit I do not go more often! It offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature at its finest. There are hiking and bike trails, scenic views, places to stop and have a picnic, and glimpses of wildlife as you pass through wooded areas. You can make it as strenuous or as gentle as you please. If you are looking for something that appeals to all ages, where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and technology fueled entertainments, then this is the place to go. Make a day of it by bringing a meal, lawn chairs, a warm sweater or blanket in case the wind picks up. Restaurants and amusement parks are everywhere - this is one of a kind!

“Our favorite place to escape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2013

My family and I love to go hiking at the Fundy Trail. We enjoy the breathtaking views, the suspension bridge, the falls, the beaches and the Interpretation Centre is great. We also enjoyed the summer concerts on Sunday, where we relaxed with friends and enjoyed the music. It's a "MUST SEE" place for sure.

The views are spectacular and the interpretation center is worth the visit. You can either drive, bike, walk or hike. It is also part of the Canadian Trail.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

I highly recommend that you put aside a whole day to visit the Fundy Trail. It is full of trails, stop-offs, & scenic overlooks. We took our whole family, including the dog, here. It is miles & miles of beautiful undeveloped views of the ocean and rock formations. Some of the trails are short and some are really long. It depends on how much or how little you want to walk. You can just drive to all of the overlooks, too. I would recommend hiking some of the trails, though. There are many points of interest on the map that you can only get to by walking.
