Owner description: The ultimate Bay of Fundy eco-adventure. Drive the paved parkway that hugs the coastal cliffs. Lace up your hiking boots and hop on your mountain bike and explore the trails. These connect to paths and stairways which lead to pristine beaches and tumbling waterfalls, Precambrian rocks, 250m cliffs that tower at the water's edge. If that doesn't take your breath away, just check out the view - the spectacular, stunning Bay of Fundy. The trail has been carved out of the Fundy Escarpment, one of the last remaining coastal wilderness areas between Florida and Labrador. Most of the elements of the Fundy ecosystem exist within this area including the dramatic Fundy tides. At the Interpretive Centre you'll find original artifacts and old photos from a bygone era, when logging, fishing and shipbuilding were an economic mainstay of this region. Guided tours to Hearst Lodge and Great Day Experiences for the family or groups are available. The Interpretive Centre also provides a snack bar, restroom facilities and a small retail outlet. Above the Centre, there is a suspension bridge across the sparkling waters of the Big Salmon River and the beginning of the wilderness Fundy Footpath.

“Fundy trail was fantastic”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We rented a car from the cruise port to go to the fundy trail. It is 1 hour from the city center and a beautiful ride. You pay for the park way a fee and then you see scenery you will never see again. You get a detailed map from the entrance at the gateway and following it you experience all the beauties it ha s to offer the trail that is...loved the suspended bridge...we will be back

“A bit disappointing”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

While the scenery was lovely, I was disappointed that his parkway has yet to be finished - you pay to drive a ways, then turn around and drive back the same way. Not really a lot of bang for the buck.

“Breathtaking beauty of Bay of Fundy at its best!”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

The Fundy Trail is a Toll Road built specifically to highlight the magnificent views of the Bay of Fundy. The cost of entering is nominal, with a family rate around $17.00 or so. The trail is dotted with several free Parking areas associated with a viewing point or access point to trails which lead to the points of interest. A map was provided at the Toll Booth. You can either walk, bike or drive the trail and those with mobility issues will find ample vantage points to view the Bay, but many are only accessible by foot using rustic stairs and rugged foot paths.

The effort to get to the beaches are worth the effort but a moderate effort is required so beware. A typical visit by car or bus would take a few hours, by foot 3 days! But go at your own pace, the idea is to enjoy the view and each trail is uniquely beautiful. I particularly enjoyed P2, P4, P6 and P8. The Interpretive Centre is well maintained and nestled beside Little Salmon River. Don't forget to visit the Suspension Bridge over the river, the kids will love it. The Fundy Trail is a place we will be visiting again and again,...it's that good.

“Good but not great scenic view”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Much of this drive goes through wooded areas, that are pleasant but not unusual. Maps often make it seem like the parkway goes right along the coast for long stretches, but there are relatively few water views along most of the route. I would recommend going to Cape Enrage; although the road is a bit daunting (blind curves and narrow pavement), the view is worth the drive, and the restaurant at the end of the Cape is magnificent.

“Awesome Views--Waterfalls--Hiking”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We were staying in St Martins, so accessto the Fundy Trail Parkway was very convenient. We went in mid-morning and the parkway was not very crowded at all. There were only one or two cars at most pull offs or parking areas. Several of the hiking trails were short enough to be done easily. The views of the coast line were awesome and seem to change with each switchback turn of the road. Be careful if stopping to take photos (which you will be tempted to do). The interpretation center did not provide much useful information. The short film is worth seeing if only for the historical background and what one individual with tenacity can accomplish. The suspension bridge is a disappointment. We drove back out in the late evening to get the "sunset" views--and it was well worth the trip--though we were the last car to leave the parkway! If you are in St Martins, this is a great attraction to put on your list.
