Local local and tasty. We stopped here for some treats to take back to our B&B: pastries, chocolate chip cookies, and a big fat rice crispy treat.

Firstly, I'll be clear that everything I've tasted that comes out of the bakery is delicious! We look forward to its opening and mourn when it closes for the season. It's fantastic that quality products are available on the island and that hasn't always been the case, as islanders know. This morning we went in to get coffee and bread and beans and treats, and whatever else struck our fancy. Luckily it wasn't busy and we giggled and pored over the coffee menu. Yes. We wanted a latte with a shot of espresso and maybe a flavour shot. A man was running the espresso machine and he quietly and politely made our coffee. The young woman who took our order, however was not nearly as amiable. When my cousin asked if he could have two flavour shots she turned her back and rolled her eyes. A small thing, I know. But the coffee hadn't been started yet and I don't think it was an unreasonable request. Possibly she was having a bad day? Didn't want to work on a Saturday in July? Who knows? But she took no precautions to hide her disdain. It's obvious a great deal of care goes into the quality and creation of the bakery products. When a customer is piling up purchases and gleefully asking for two flavour shots in their latte, if staff doesn't have the personality to engage them, they could at least refrain from outright disrespect. Again, a small thing, but it coloured our experience. Will this stop us from going to the bakery? Absolutely not! We just won't be the over the top tippers that we usually are!!!

We enjoy the variety of baked goods from this little bakery. We especially enjoy the pan buns and cholate croissants.
