This was great. We were a party of 4 adults and two small children. The boat holds about 20 people and has a small bathroom (important with preschoolers!). It took about 30 minutes to get out to the area where the whales were. It was a nice trip out there, very smooth sailing. There were two crew members. The captain, and another man who did a great job mingling with the passengers and giving us tidbits of information. We went by the East Quoddy Light and I got good pictures of that from the water.
There were about 6 boats out there viewing the whales and it sounded like they all communicated with each other so the captains would know where the whales were being sighted. We saw harbor porpoises and finback whales. There must have been a pod of the finbacks, and we saw them continuously for over an hour. There was even a mama/baby pair! My kids loved it and had a great time. The whales were really close to the boat. (Almost too close, LOL!)
The crew was great. All the passengers seemed to have a great time. Definitely highly recommended. The boat was small enough that everyone had a good seat and was able to see all of the whales. The total trip was about 2 hours (a little over) and it was the perfect amount of time for us.
