I can't believe what I'm reading. If you want a Dry walled Comfort Inn Don't come here! This is a beautiful hotel with a lot of Manitoba history!!!! Yes it's dated and needs some work but we had a great time skidooing with great service. Talk to front desk and they give you great rate in low season. People need too stop B about these small mom and dad hotels and maybe start supporting them!

make for a better experience. I was so worried because I booked first, then looked on here. Yes, the rooms are dated, but they were very clean, and the staff was friendly. We ended up with a leaky roof, but the staff were very accommodating. I totally agree that the owners need to sink some money into it for upkeep, the roof was leaking into the pool, and it was closed., but it really was wayyyyyy better than driving back and forth from Winnipeg to Falcon lake all weekend. We had a kitchenette, and it was great to have.

The first indication of the service at this hotel was the closed glass door to the reception desk. There was a little sign on the desk saying "Ring bell for service", but the bell and the sign were both locked behind the door. The sink didn't drain. The toilet plugged. We came back to the room one night and the powere was off in half the room. We stayed for a week (family event in the area) and our beds were made twice. We didn't have a bath mat half the time. And on the weekend there was a loud family group in the hallways after one, including small children. No action by the hotel staff.

This hotel is only for the desperate.

Some places should never be called Hotels, this is one of them. This hotel was dirty, it smelled and was in disrepair. This hotel is old and desperately needs a complete makeover. The WORST part though was not the old bathroom, or the rusted fridge, or the dirty cupboards and floors, it was the little black mouse droppings found all over the pullout couch when opened. When we complained to the front desk, the young man serving us was extremely apologetic and understanding. He was going to issue us some compensation for our stay (which was outrageously priced, gauging those that want to stay at falcon for a day or two, and bizarrely comparable to a beautiful room in a recent stay we had in New York) but first he had to clear it through the owner. The rather rude and disrespectful owner challenged our "findings" and indicated there was no reason, proof or evidence that justified any compensation. He spent a fair amount of time 'arguing' with us. We were horrified at his audacity. This hotel is sub standard in too many ways to list, but the complete lack of customer service by the owner not only reflects on his poor management skills, but also on his disregard for his property. DISGUSTING, DIRTY, and in DISREPAIR. Take a pass on this location.

Room Tip: My tip to other travellers is, "don't stay here".

We popped in here because of exhaustion from biking all day in the wind and rain and couldn't quite make it to Kenora. It is an experience. The gentleman at the front desk was amusing once he finally came to address us after a woman walked by and started yelling his name ( I guess us pressing the bell didn't work). Then he waited to talk to us because he was watching the woman leave the hotel and said something about making sure she didn't take anything. This was all occurring over the very loud music from the bar. He then took a call and the conversation was bizarre but amusing. He told the guy to come down and then they would talk price cause he was dealing with us and giving us the last room at the lower price. So weird. He was willing to dicker on the room so got him down $40 to $100 for a suite. The hallways are run down, things are quite dingy. When we got to the room, the door was open and he seemed confused and mumbled abboutThis is by no means a "resort" but for us staying over night it worked just fine. The room was clean but run down. The towels are old and stained as is the bedding. I'm telling myself that everything was washed - that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Room Tip: stay away from the loud and rowdy bar

This hotel is dirty and poorly maintained. Dirty carpet that smelled and didn't look like it had been vacuumed in some time. We slept in our keeping bags because the sheets were dirty and sandy..... Loud, drunk neighbours until 1:30 am and calls to the front office were not answered. Our advice.... If you're heading east, drive to Kenora or keep going until you hit Winnipeg in the west..... Too bad because Falcon Lake itself looks quite pretty.....

The overall rating for this hotel is still the same, in fact, like before, if I could give it "nothing", that would probably be close to what the reality is. What I wanted to relay in this newer review was the fact that there is a new Chinese Food Restaurant in the hotel that is excellent (I'd give it 5 stars!!). The food is very tasty, fresh, and the family who owns it are friendly and hospitable. The prices of this Chinese Restaurant at Falcon is also a couple of dollars less per plate than the Chinese Restaurant in Westhawk. The hotel restaurant also has had a new ceiling put in which makes the room look better, and less run down. Don't be deceived by the paint job the hotel has put on the outside - it's still a dive. BUT a dive with a GREAT RESTAURANT!!!

Room Tip: Bring a tent and stay at the campground, or rent a cabin instead!!
