My wife and I took a half-day morning kayak trip. The day started off foggy, but it burned off about half way into our trip. We saw two black bears, minke whale, and many jumping salmon.

Our guide was really good (Jam), and he provided us with a lot of insight on the local ecosystem (showed us sea stars, etc). We combed the shoreline on the way out, and we visited a beach before returning. The area was beautiful, with lots of wildlife and scenery.

I highly recommend this company for anyone visiting the north end of Vancouver Island. Next time, we will take a full day trip with them.

We opted for the one-day (6 hour) excursion. Nice, slow paddle along the shore, but very little sea life. We saw porpoises at a distance, many jumping salmon, a few eagles, and some jellyfish and starfish under water. On another day we might have encountered orcas. But we did not this day. One guide ("Jam") was great - positive, friendly, made the most of the limited sightings, enthusiastically provided lots of background info about what we saw, etc. The other guide (Brie) was unfortunately not so great. She treated questions with mild derision, making it clear that some of ours were dumb questions. Obviously, we kept further questions to ourselves. Our other disappointment was that we missed a pod of orcas that swam right past where we had been paddling about 30 minutes after we left the area. The guides' insistence that the tour end on time scuttled our group's opportunity for a fantastic experience - a close kayak encounter with orcas. Obviously the guides have had many of these encounters thenselves and may not have cared for another on that day, but I would have gladly paid for the guides' overtime. However, we were ushered back into the harbour in order to end by 4:00. (The guides knew the whales were coming as this info is continuously shared among tour companies via radios which the guides wear on their chests.) Lastly, it would be nice of the tour included lunch. With guests left to their own devices (we all brought our own sandwiches), an opportunity for group camaraderie was missed.

To say the experience was truly amazing is an understatement! Our guide, Josh,
Was very patient with us as we set up and set off. 2 day tour is recommended with an overnight camp, book in advance. The food and camp were really good and added to the adventure. We were very lucky and had orca whales less than 50ft from our kayaks.
We can't recommend this experience enough, our guide and the kayaking guys were 1st class.

I chose NIK for their proximity to the area we would kayak and camp. Within 20 mins of paddling, there was Orca. Three out of the next four days on the water, we saw Orca. There was Dall's porpoise, salmon, eagles, deer, seals, seabirds, and even a distant humpback seen from camp. We saw wildlife everyday. Our guide Wendy amazed. Not only guide, teacher and wrangler of the 5 of us, her meals in camp were delicious, while she took into account the gluten-free and vegetarian among us. I camped in Telegraph Cove before and after the tour with NIK gear which kept me warm during cool and damp nights. I would recommend them to anyone.

We just returned from the six day Broughton trip. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The weather was perfect (sun every day) and kayaking in the morning fog was great. We saw Orcas four times - a couple of times right off our camping beach, Humpbacks, Minke, Dall's Porpoise, Sea Lions, Seals, plus all the Urchins, Anenomes, Sea Cucumbers, etc. Brad, our guide, was so enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of information about the area and the wildlife. He was able to read our group right away and provided us with six wonderful days of paddling with manageable distances and time to just sit back and relax and enjoy. Our meals were great and well thought out. There were lots of places to see and six days is not enough to do it all, but what we did see was amazing, especially White Cliff Islets, a little piece of heaven on a sunny day. Thank you Brad for a holiday to always remember!
