We went out with the zodiac, pretty bumpy but worth it! Exactly how I was expecting whale watching! It was amazing!

Five of us booked a 3 hour Whale watching trip and it was touch and go whether it would be going ahead due to numbers being low... but the girls in the office were really helpful and kept us updated as the numbers went up to 16 which made it viable for the boat to go out!
Wow what a trip...
Sharon and Rebecca are so knowledgeable and full of amazing information about all types of Whales and marine mammals. Showing us pictures and letting us hear the calls made by Orcas under water.
Roman is a super skipper and knew exactly where to head to get the full experience. Within 10 minutes of being out from Telegraph Cove he was pointing us in the direction of a Pod of Orcas heading our way. After a small wait there they were right next to us and Becs was able to identify the male in the group as Fife. We got some fantastic views and saw some Dalls Porpoise almost goading the Killer Whales. A truly unforgettable hour!
But we weren’t finished yet... Roman knew where to head next to get us in amongst the Humpback Action! Sharon and Becs were able to point out the “blows” from these amazing creatures closely followed by some dives and tail splashing. At one stage we must have had at least 10 humpbacks around us in all directions.
This trip was over and above all expectations, not just the amazing sights but the incredible knowledge and top notch service enjoyed from all the team at Prince of Whales. A must do trip if you are lucky enough to be in the quaint little spot of Telegraph Cove.

We had a great morning trip with Prince of Whales for 3 hours. The naturalist was so informative, telling us everything you'd want to know about the different types of whales. She also told us about the rules around how far boats should stay away from whales not to disturb them and the skipper stuck to that (and we saw other, smaller boats disregarding the rules!). We saw many Orcas, three Humpbacks and some shy Porpoises which was so beautiful.
We had a couple of families with young children on the boat - I wouldn't recommend taking small children personally. You do have to stare into the sea for a while and look for tiny signs of whales until you then come closer to them, so kids might not have the patience for it (these ones certainly didn't...).

We travelled specifically to Telegraph Cove for the whale watching trip - it is one of the best places in the world!... Originally booking online many months in advance with Stubbs - before the operation was taken over for Summer 2019 by Prince of Whales.
The trip was almost cancelled before we’d even left the dock, to our despair - there is a minimum number requirement of 15....and only 9 had signed up. We had been telephoned about this offering an alternative option...We asked about places on the other three trips (1 covered and 2 zodiac) that day (all of which we could have done) but they were all full.
Until.....at 3.15 we were fortunately advised that 16 passengers had paid!
We had a boat designed for 70 almost to ourselves. The 3hr trip itself was everything we had hoped for - if not better. Two great guides Sharon and Rebecca with helpful Captain Roman.
An Orca pod followed in the first half hour - with the male passing right next to the resting tour boat...then in more open water an array of over 10+ humpbacks in every direction around the boat - including some breaching....absolutely magical.
POW - please be more proactive in advising of potential cancellations - and offer alternative same day sailings, in advance - it’s a long way to travel to be let down at the last moment!

Maybe we were lucky but we saw Orcas, Humpbacks, sea lions, porpoises and sea eagles. Guides were I formative and genuinely loved doing what they do, great to see them as excited as we all were to see these magnificent creatures.
