We took the zodiac trip, piloted by Scotty. Within a short time we had Dall’s porpoise hunting and playing next to the boat, soon followed by 2 humpbacks, then a raft of Stellar sea lions. Scotty gave a lot of thought as to where we should head to try and spot orcas and his plan paid off, with fantastic views of two pods of orcas including one whale that showed off leaping out of the water. Just as we thought that was the finale to the trip, Scotty received a message that a fin whale - not usually found in these waters - was nearby and after some patient waiting and tracking, we got to view this whale several times. Amazing. Scotty was a great skipper and has a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife. This was a trip of a lifetime and Prince of Whales a great company to have found. Thank you Scotty for delivering more than we could have hoped for! Thoroughly recommend this trip. I hope to return one day!

Hello,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a glowing review. We really appreciate this and are so happy you had an awesome adventure with Scotty.

How fantastic that you got to see a Dall's porpoise, Humpbacks, Orcas, Stellar Sea Lions and a Fin whale! You are correct that a Fin whale is not often seen in these waters so what an incredible sight to see! Fin whale is the second-largest species of whale :)

Thank you for your recommendation and we hope to see you again the next time you are in Telegraph Cove.

Starting from beautiful Telegraph Cove, I participated in a whale watching tour. We took our boat through the areas where they expected to find certain whales. We got lucky to get approached by a few Doll's Purpose. Later, we saw a few humpback whales and even a family of orcas! To finish it all off, we saw a sea otter swimming close by. It was such a great experience! Much more than I expected.

The crew was well informed and could always provide relevant information to what we saw out on the waters. It was pretty cool how the captain was able to spot and approach wildlife, just by sight, with minimum disturbance of the animals. Shoutout to Rebecca for answering all my questions, it was so interesting to learn so much about whales! Would do again if I had the chance too.

What a great crew. Wilma was so knowledgeable. Would go again just to talk to her about the wildlife. Erin our captain was determined to find whales and he succeeded. Saw both humpback and orcas. I also loved how they respected the whales space. Did not encroach on them but we were able to have ample viewing.

The crew was very very friendly and helpful. AND WE SAW SEVERAL ORCA FAMILIES:) Me and my daughter were overwhelmed and very happy to have experienced this. And I would recommand this trip to everyone outhere:) Especially because it feels not too touristy and plus nature is unbelievabley beautiful.

We did the morning whale watching tour from Telegraph Cove on July 3 (Jamie's now operates from Telegraph Cove, starting this season). The weather was lovely and the waters were calm. However, the whale sightings were very disappointing...near the start of the tour, we saw one humpback whale, and a few fleeting glances of some dolphins, and that was it for the entire 3-hour tour. We understand that wildlife viewing is very unpredictable, and nothing is guaranteed (we've done several African safaris). However, Telegraph Cove is supposedly a world-class viewing location for whales, so our experience was very disappointing - we expected to see more. Strangely, the guide on the boat (Sharon) told me that she thought the wildlife viewing was "really good". Huh? One whale sighting is "really good"? She then went on to say that the viewing would likely be better in September, so she hoped we could return then. I know that they are new to Telegraph Cove, having replaced the long-standing Stubb's...I'm not sure if their "newness" and perhaps lack of familiarity with the area contributed to the poor viewing experience.

Hello,

We are very sorry to hear that this tour did not meet your expectations. Every tour is unpredictable and different in terms of what can be spotted but we always try our absolute best to offer a great viewing and educational experience for our guests. Just like whale watching anywhere in this region, or the world, sightings are always going to be unpredictable because we are dealing with wild mammals. We will always remain impartial observers as we do not want to influence the behavior of the marine animals in any way.

As we mentioned, every tour is unique and BC is a world renowned location for whale watching, offering beautiful scenery and a variety of wildlife. We want to share this with our guests that come to take a tour with us from all corners of the globe.
