Very knowledgeable staff kept us entertained and interested both to and from the location which is a 2 1/2 hr trip. Transferred to small boats and taken very quietly to where the bears were feeding. Loads of time and photo ops when there - not cheap by any means but well worth the expense

Like several of the other reviews noted our tour on Sept. 9th started in fog but was mostly sunny which worked out wonderfully for photographs. (I have some very interesting fog pictures but nice bright grizzly pics.) The grizzly viewing was so awesome it will probably be impossible to match ever!! After a fun boat ride (about 2 hours) with 9 other people, during which we spotted dolphins and our Entertainment Director Matt graciously served us coffee, tea, snacks, etc. while keeping us entertained with stories, we stopped at a dock for a quick but very good sandwich lunch. However, we were all in a hurry to see the mom grizzly playing in the water with her cubs. We went there soon and spent the next several hours watching mom & cubs play & catch salmon. I believe we saw about 12 Grizzly bears. What an experience!! Lindsey did an exceptional job of maneuvering us on the water platform for optimal viewing & photographs. If that wasn't enough on the way back we spotted whales. While I know animal sightings are unpredictable (as my Campbell River Grizzly tour proved) Tide Rip Grizzly Tours does all the little things to make the whole experience a wonderful life long memory. From serving drinks/snacks on the way up to using their vast experience & knowledge to maximize the potential for great wildlife sightings/pictures. And for those focused on wildlife photography I can't recommend Tide Rip enough and especially our guides Lindsey & Matt. Good guides make or break a tour and they were the best!

We undertook this tour on 7 September, visiting this area from England. The day started in fog at 8.30 am and ended in sunshine at 6 pm, with an amazing experience inbetween. After a journey through low cloud/mist, and then a good early buffet lunch, at which they catered for my husband who requires a gluten-free diet, we progressed on a shallow boat up Knights Inlet. The guides, Derek and Andrew, imparted a wealth of information before we moored at our first sighting spot. In a short while a grizzly appeared with her cub from last year, whilst, across on the opposing bank, in the distance, we glimpsed a mother grizzly with 3 of this year's cubs. All eyes on board were then transfixed as the mother and cub entered the water and then caught a salmon - they kept us entranced for almost an hour. We then moved on and saw 2 more mother grizzlies with 3 cubs, and then the same mother and year old cub emerged from the wood on a small island to slip into the water and a play-fight ensued. As we moved position, a lone bear emerged on the bank, by a small boat, looking as if it were tempted to jump in! However, before it had the chance, it was disturbed by a mother with 4 - yes 4! - young cubs, emerging from the water. Our guide of 11 years had never seen a bear with 4 cubs and classed this as 'the best day of my life'! It certainly ranked high in our lives too! A brilliant day, one which we will remember for a long time.

I live at Telegraph Cove and have black bears in the back yard...'Ernie' being the biggest!

Nothing can compare with the Grizzlies that I've seen on Tide Rip tours!!

i've been 3 times and love taking off into the wild blue in their boats...being served hot coffee and muffins while watching the sun stream through the fog and the world waking up.
Dolphins 'surf the wake' and bald eagles scream in the cedar snags while the water turns glacier green or blue as you near the wharf at Glendale Cove.

Today...was the best!!
One Momma Bear and her daughter frolicked in the marshland, swam up river, shared salmon (you could hear them crunching while eating) and played/waded/swam the riverbank 30 feet from the skiff...all you could hear was the soft clicks of the cameras...and after they'd gone up river to the bend, the excited whispers of the international guests and the tour guides, Lindsey, Matt and Derek. (You know it's an incredible day when the guides are excited as the tourists!!)

Next...a Momma with 4 (yes 4!!) little cubs came up river, wading past us. The cubs were like ducklings, one-by-one swimming and exploring behind their mom. The runt got interested in
a overhanging branch, but returned to the lineup when Momma gave a short snort.

It was an incredible day of more magnificent grizzlies...right up to the roaring far off in the bush!!

Thanks to Howard, Lindsey, Matt, Derek, Daryl, Pascal and Theresa who make it all possible and keep us entertained with tales along the way, a great picnic lunch and a safe, hugely enjoyable journey...
I will certainly be going again next year !!! Jane
