Reviewed January 30, 2013

Visited for birthday dinner with the husband.
Excellent service eventhough it was busy.

We loved the Yam fries appie- their's are amazing!! Nothing like any yam fries we have had before!

For our mains we enjoyed the yellow curry and pad thai...both dishes were very well done and huge!! We both took over half for lunch the next day.

Thanks Black garlic!

“Wonderful Creative Asian and vegetarian Food”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Black Garlic offers a varied menu, and any of the selections can be made vegetarian or vegan if desired. The appetizers we had were AMAZING – and the serving sizes were generous. We had the Falafel Fritters and the pumpkin curry soup. The falafel was light and moist (not dry as falafel sometimes are). The serving was 4 large pieces with an apple chutney, cilantro yogurt, and quinoa cucumber salad. The soup was a wonderful pumpkin with coconut milk and curry spices.
The main courses were all right – a little bit of a letdown after the appetizer course. The chow mein was on the salty side, but had a lot of good vegetables. The green curry was a little bland for me, and could have been much spicier, as Thai green curry usually is. The restaurant has a good selection of wines, including some dessert wines and ice wine. We enjoyed our meal, the service was friendly, and we might return just for the pumpkin soup!

“Underwhelming”
Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

We had an average experience at this restaurant. The wine list is poor, the service was okay and the food mixed. Some of our party of six were happy with their dishes and others were not. It doesn't seem to quite come together. Pity, because it has good potential.

“Black Plague - er Garlic”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

For the second time in as many years, we stopped in at the Black Garlic for dinner while on a ski vacation at Sun Peaks. We must have caught them on a terrible night, or they've completely fallen apart at the seams.
Our table was not ready until twenty minutes after our reservation time... Our drinks came about twenty minutes after ordered, and dinner was about 45 minutes from time ordered. The service was simply brutal.
Out of our group of six, there was only one of us who made it through their entire main course. Everything was "off". Bland sauce, tepid temperature - just awful. Perhaps it was the oppressive heat in the restaurant... Our server remarked that the kitchen fan was out of order, and as a result - the temperature in the restaurant was about 35 degrees C!
There was one bright spot - the Wonton soup was great, but the rest of the evening was lacking.

“Blah”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Menu presents as amazing. Delivery is the complete opposite. You get the idea when the patrons leave their food pretty much uneaten and the staff don't question whether you have enjoyed the meal.
