“Great hiking, but nothing to do in evenings”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

We visited here during our recent western Canada road trip. The hiking was fantastic and we also canoed on the lake. The range of daytime activities is great - lots to do if you like being in the outdoors but the evenings were quiet. The resort is not busy and everthing closes at 8pm so make sure you eat early. Not all restaurants and bars are open in the summer so choice is limited. Would love to come back in the winter to ski - think it would be a much different place and the skiing terrain looks great.

The village is gorgeous. All the shops and restaurants are located in the main village. We found Sun Peaks to be extremely friendly and family orientated.
In the winter time there is heaps to do, alpine skiing, ice skating, tobogganing, tubing, bungee trampoline, swimming, dog sledding, snow mobiles, day spa, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, wine festival in January, ice hockey, free guided mountain tours, sno-limo tours, fondue at the top of the mountain with a torch light descent afterwards and of course the ocassional snow ball fight when the snow is damp enough. (The snow is normally very dry).
We are skiers and we love the fact that there is a run for every ability off of each lift. People of all abilities can catch the same lift together but then chose a different run down. Tree skiing is excellent in Sun Peaks and are our kids favourite runs (and they are level 5 skiers). We found the grooming to be great and after a snow fall there was heaps of powder stashes to be found around the mountain days after.
You must try a cinnamon bun fresh out of the oven from the Sunburst Lodge, yum!
We have stayed in the Fireside Lodge and the Sundance Estate. Both are great locations with easy access to everything. We definitely recommend staying either in the village or very close by. Although there are a lot of ski in ski out properties they can be quite a distance from the village.

“Loved exploring”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

This is not a place for those that are addicted to their gadgets. This IS an awesome place for those that love the outdoors and love a slow pace. Completely recommend for a relaxing weekend. After two days, you're going to get bored unless if you like hiking and swimming.

“Very nice resort, just pricey”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

I am very impressed with this resort and the Delta hotel is excellent and we really like our room as the style and feel is superb. There are nice activities such as hiking and mountain biking offered and our pool at hotel is top notch. My gf and daughter do not hike or mountain bike so just a relaxing vacation for me this time and it was ladies day today at the golf club so could not try that golf course either but want to come back and try one day as looks nice. Found the gondola to the top to go hiking a bit steep price wise though as $30 for one child and one adult so did not do this time. Building styles of resort are attractive looking and there are many restaurants but beware that the Japanese restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and the Steakhouse is closed all summer so limited on choices, especially if you bring kids along. A couple pubs allow kids to 7-8 pm and offer $10 jugs and very good food and appy specials. Overall 8 out of 10 and only cause pricey and limited open restaurants. Resort itself is 9/10 for look and feel.

“Not a must have”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We haven been here during summer time. Sun peaks is in our opinions absolutely kitschy. If you would like to get a real experience of Austria better go to Austria. This village had bad overall service. After 9pm we did not got any to eat. An Italian restaurant was our last resort. If you read the history about this village and the things that happened to the local aboriginal people youwould not go here to support such approaches.
